Why do so many women cut their hair after the wedding
My cousin's wife did this and based on the thread, it seems that a lot of women are cutting their hair right after the wedding
Just curious. I am not cutting mine

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I can't speak for anyone else, but I have had long hair pretty much all my life. I wanted to cut it before the wedding but my DH asked me to have long hair on the HM (who knows what goes through his head! ) so I obliged...but once I lose some weight, it is coming off!

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
It's funny that you brought this up because I was just thinking of this before-- I was thinking about cutting my hair a little bit after the wedding... I know with me it just has to do with wanting long hair so that I am able to have a nice updo... Also, I don't think many girls want to do too much experimenting w/ their hair before the wedding.... Women (or at least me) love to change... so I guess after the wedding a lot of people are glad to have the freedom back to not be scared to try new things looks-wise.

Igrew mine out for the wedding and its just so thick and heavy I had to cut it off. I will let it grow and then cut again, once Im sick of it.

I also am growing my hair out for the wedding to have an up do, so I can't wait to be able to cut it again and not have to wear a ponytail EVERY DAY!

I didn't touch mine before the wedding so I could have it styled the day of. I alternate looks with the length of my hair and have been contemplating cutting it off to clean my dead ends and for a fresh new look.

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I am chopping mine off b/c I don't usually keep it this long. I only grew it out for the wedding. It's a pain to wash and dry it every day. Plus, after seeing it so long, I'd like a change. I'm bored of it.

It was all about the up-do for me as well as not wanting to experiment in any way before the wedding.

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I have always had long hair but never this long.... it's past my butt at this point. I am going to cut just 10 inches off so I can donate it and still have some length to it to put up and style if I want. I could never have short hair, it just doesn't flatter my face.

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I am notorious for growing my hair long, chopping it off and donating the hair. I do it every few years, but obviously because of the wedding I decided to grow it out again. Now Im itching to cut it off because its too thick, too much maintenance, and there's no styling it.

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I am not cutting my hair- not even after I have a baby- my hair used to be annoying- but since jappenese starighting is available- I plan on having long hair for a while
My FH would not be happy if I cut it all off- but I have alway had long hair- it's part of who I am

you are so beautiful, you don't have to wait till you loose weight. Trust me. I thought that I couldn't have short hair b/c I have fat cheeks (looks like I have two apples on my face), but once I cut it a few years ago, I try to grow it and I can't. I actually feel sexier with short hair. And, FH likes it better short. He always thougth he liked long hair, but when I cut it, he was pleasantly surprised at how much better I look.
ETA: Everyone asked me if I was growing my hair for the wedding, and I said, what for, it's not me to have long hair. Also, I feel that I can do so many more styles with short hair than when I had long hair. (my hair was up to my waist.)

Ditto!! I have been letting mine grow. it's not even that long, but I have grown out my face framing layers because I am not sure how I am wearing my hair for the big day. Now I feel like it just hangs there and doesw nothing! After the wedding I want to cut about 3-4 inches off. nothing too major - just a little change!

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I spent almost a whole year growing our my hair. I only had one tiny trim and I was really itching for a new style. Something lighter and fun. My hair was above my shoulder when I got engaged and I had some serious growing to do!

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
I've been growing my hair out for the wedding (I always have long hair), but now it's down to my butt (super long so my hair looks really full on my wedding day). But for every day life it's just too much. It takes forever to dry, and really just goes in a ponytail.
After the wedding I'll cut it to be more managable (but still long). If I have enough I'll donate it to make a wig for kids with cancer.

Re: Spinoff - Dying for the Newlywed Chop
Mine's slowly getting shorter since the wedding. Before the wedding, I barely cut it! Now I'm having fun with it, getting a few layers, playing the color, and I might cut it? Who knows!?! I feel like I have a little more freedom to do as I please.
