Can anyone recommend a cute and romantic restaurant in the city?? we tend to stick to restaurants in the village, but I am open to anywhere!! Just no steakhouses, I don't like steak.

Don't know if you are aware but this week and next week is Restaurant Week in the city...there are a BUNCH of really good restaurants this yr...3 course meal for $35 a person:

Yes - it's in the W Village - I used to live right around the corner - VERY good food and very hard to get a table!

So today is FH's 32nd birthday and the reason I didn't comment with my gift idea is b/c he lurks and I don't want him seeing...

If you like Italian, I highly recommend Marea or Alto. I'm actually taking him to their sister restaurant, Convivo this Friday!

Gyu-kaku is really great too but I usually only go with groups so I can't personally envision it being romantic...

How about River Cafe in Brooklyn?
