spinoff- for those of you not having children at the wedding
For those of you who have opted not to have children at the wedding, I have a quick question.....

I just didn't want little children running around at my wedding IMO it stops parents from having a good time. Since they have to be constantly running around after them

I didn't want any chaos, crying, running around.
On top of that, I didn't want to pay money to have chaos, crying, running around...

Ditto, plus my sister's hall is beach front, so safety is a factor.....people are drinking, it's night time.....it's the ocean....

Same here my hall is on the water too. And plus I just really wanted a nighttime adult affair I did'nt want anyone worrying about leaving early to put the kiddies to bed My reception is from 7 to 12 midnight

Unfortunately there are a 3 VERY misbehaved nephews that I have, that made our decision not to have children at our wedding. There are four others that we really wanted to have there, so we included them in the bridal party so they could attend the reception. But there are other children that ultimately will miss the party because of the of my 3 nephews

I really didn't want any children at the wedding and have to deal with that. My friends are the one's with small children and I asked them and they wanted to have a good time without their kids. So it worked out well.

for us it was a huge combination of things. first of all there would be too many, we are at 300 on our guest list alone w/ adults only and space is a huge issue, we are trying to stay around 250 for the size of the room that we have. if we invited one child, we wouldve had to invite them all and that would be about 25 more people.
I also agree that the parents dont really get to enjoy themselves while they are having to look after their children the whole night. there will be drinking and dancing and I think they deserve a night out to get a little crazy
$ was not so much an issue for us because we never even considered it. had we not had the other issues maybe the $ wouldve bothered us as well.

We didn't have any because Dh & I do not have nieces or nephews yet We felt that to invite all the kids on both sides would have been too much. Most people were happy since they had a night to themselves. I heard that some of DH's cousins were upset since they never do anything w/o their kids - I told DH if they don't like it, they don't have to come...

Re: spinoff- for those of you not having children at the wedding
The big reason we're not having children, even though it's a day wedding, is because the vineyard only holds a certain amount of people, and we already have more than that number on our list. There simply would be no room. Also, I'd be worried about the kids running around the property (60+ acres) and getting lost or hurt. And I think it would be nicer for the parents to not have to run after them. The only kids will be my 12-year-old cousin, who's a jr. bridesmaid, and her 7-year-old brother, who is pretty well-behaved and won't have other kids to run around with anyway.

too many of them to even consider it. But I am not a fan of kids at weddings at all.

I dont want any except my own son. I hate when little kids crowd the bride so much that she trips all over them and her dress in the process of trying to get to her groom.

There are just too many of them...it would turn into romper room with 30 kids all under the age of twelve there...

Ditto! I've already spoken with the mother of our two flower girls - and she agreed that she wouldn't have fun with them there. They'll stay long enough to be introduced into the reception, then their grandmother will come to take them home.

I chose to have no children at the wedding because I want my guests to relax. I know that I would have no fun at a wedding if I had to watch a child all night long. This is a time for everyone to let loose. Also, most kids get sooooooooooooooo bored at weddings, that I think it's better for them to just not go.

I don't want any kids there. the kids (cousins) range from 5-13 and all they do is fight and they completely misbehaved at my cousins wedding last month. they treated the reception (the sand castle) like a playgroud. all they did was run around chasing eachother and almost knocked the cake over if that was my wedding, i would have killed them so i made up my mind to not have the kids there. its an adult party, the kids won't eat anyway so why bother spending the money all those plates that will be wasted.

I really didn't want children at my wedding, the only two kids that will be there are my FI brother's kids, and he has to bring them because they are from OOT and there is nobody to watch them. Maybe it would have been a different story if someone really close to me had kids, like my sister, but they don't so I didn't want any.

We have a bunch of kids in the fam.. and we put the question out to our aunts and uncles.. and THEY didn't want them there... Some kids are coming (those aunts and uncles who are from out of town... and want their children there ) But I am not having any kids under 8 there, with the exception of the FH and RB. FH and I are kid people.. so the more the merrier.... and in our families, no kids wasn't an option.
