Spinoff from Baby Naming: Has anyone ever 'stolen' the name that you were going to name your child?

I have a friend that is having a baby and she is totally 'stealing' the name I wanted to use. So, I understand that I am not pregnant yet, but golly, it is my husbands grandmother's name! I must admit I was a little bit hurt!

DH already had 10 nieces and nephews before I met him and his sisters took all the boy names I loved. I can't be mad they were all born and named before I met him.

I will say, from experience, that your name likes and dislikes can change often during pregnancy. Unless it is your sister or brother than I say all names are ups for grabs. JMO

My friends and I have a rule... if you're not pregnant, you can't call dibs on a name.

MIL's best friend named her son (born one month before DH) the exact name (first and middle) that MIL & FIL had chosen for DH. I always say I can't believe she stayed friends with her after that, but DH says we should thank her, he hates the name.

I don't have any kids yet, so nobodys name for me to steal, but I am naming my son Jared NO MATTER WHAT....I don't care who has it I have loved it forever and intend to use it...

Someone stole my baby name once (long story that you would all understand why I am pissed even though I am not pregnant or won't be anytime soon)

DH and I both had a boys name before we even met ( the same!!!) and we told his cousin...and she stole the feminine version...I don't really care...I am naming my son this name and if she doesn't like it - its her own fault
