spinoff from: first year of marriage

hi ladies - another crasher here!! about the first year of marriage - do you feel like it was easier or harder of you lived with your DH beforehand? thanks!

We lived together for about a year and a half before we got married, so when we got back from our HM we didn't really feel any differently. The only thing that changed was my last name!!

We too did not live together before marriage, well we did for about a year, but then I moved out (to help my then recently divorced brother). Our first year of marriage has been cake. I told DH that the 2nd year will be the true test....why you ask...b/c we have a new baby (4 wks old today).

we bought a house together about 5 mts before hand - so before the wedding was extra stressful but -- but after when things clamed down i feel that it made it easier - JMO

We didn't live together full time before we got married even though we had purchased our home. For us, the transition was easy but at the same time, we had our moments.

We lived together for about a year before the wedding so we waited to use certain things we got at the shower until we were married. When we got home from the honeymoon we put the new bedding on and took out our new dishes, etc.

But i'm glad we lived together before, it was an easy transition.

It was definetely an adjustment since we hadn't lived together BUT I would not have lived with him before we got married...I am too traditional

We lived together for 2 and 1/2 years before getting married. The only thing I can say that changed is that we don't argue for petty stuff anymore...its like 'what for' we're married..we're not going anywhere

we have lived together for almost 3 years - i am hoping that is the case for me too! thanks for all your input ladies!!

Same here and the transition was great...SO glad we lived together first!!! I was 30 when I got married and DH was 36...we were together for 6 years when we got married. At that age it was silly and a waste of $ for us NOT to live together since we had both been living on our own for so long...paying 1 rent was much cheaper than paying 2!
