Spinoff from Police officer gifts... do you hate that FH is a cop?

i was going to hi jack the other thread but figured i make a new one...

being that there were so many responses and there are alot of you who have FH that are cops...

do you hate what they do???

for me... i just worry about him EVERYDAY that he works.. its so terrible to feel this way.. but how can you not with all these crazies out there!!

i dont hate it at all... I guess hes pretty safe where he is so its okay, i didn't like when he was on NYPD though, he worked in the projects and crazy stuff always went on there... but he's pretty safe now.. and soon b/c of his better paying job I wont have to work and I can stay home and have babies

ughhhh i envy you. fh is still nypd, were hoping he gets into nassau or suffolk, so I can stay home and have babies! lol

you are lucky!! mine is not in a terrible spot but still i worry.. i guess its natural.

lol thats where he just got into (still in the acedemy) but he took the test i think 4 years ago, so it takes awhile...but well worth it in the end

its totally natural... God I would not want all those nights back that i was awake worrying about him!! and he had a few 'incidents' that didn't make it easy after that, but out here on LI you don't hear of any of that, thank God!!

But is Port Auth. unsafe? i though it was better then most of the other places you could be out.. actually DH wanted PA, but he got projects go figure

It doesn't bother me that my FH is NYPD and he is in Manhatten North, aka Harlem. I just don't seem to worry about him. Sometimes I feel like a freak becasue I don't. People are always asking, 'aren't you afraid for him' and honestly I'm not. For some reason it's ok with me. I just need him to love what he's doing. Port Auth is pretty safe, pays well, but is really boring from what I hear. I'd rather my hubby be happy!

yea Port Authority is pretty safe.. but still.. i dont know.. i just get so worried all the time.. he has been a cop for as long as i knew him..

i think im over reacting now... but i just feel uneasy at most times... Port authority was the police dept for the trade center... i think thats why im so paranoid.

both my DH and my brother are NYPD--and no i don't hate what they do--i'm actually quite proud of them for their jobs. I know that they are doing somethign out there that not a lot of ppl would want to do---and for me its pride.

HOWEVER i do have days when i worry about them both. my brother has been on longer and he's seen some things and we've had a scare or two when the precinct has had to call us to say that he was injured. as for DH--same thing---if i'm watching the news and it says anythign about a cop being injured, i think 'omg--i hope it wasn't DH'

some days i hate the general area my DH works in and the ppl in it. he deals with some SERIOSULY ghetto ppl and is put in some dangerous sitautions--so more than anythign i tend to hate the way ppl tend to have ZERO respect for cops.....i also hate the way that sometimes ppl react when they hear things about cops cause they just don't KNOW anything about the job. what they do is dangerous, without a doubt...and i just hate that there has to be a need for my husband to pull his gun out for any reason whatsoever.

i completely agree with you!! people have NO respect for cops.. and dating or knowing someone that is..you hear all the stories .you never realized what goes on..
how to keep themselves safe, and everything else that goes along with it..

i am of course proud of what he does and puts his life on the line everday..but like i said , i just worry.. i know 'hate' is a strong word.

omg--i am soooooooooooooooo stressed out about fh going into the academy in january. besides teh huge paycut, i am so worried for him. i am a natural worrier but the nypd thing is killinbg me. thanks to all of you who have helped answer my questions and fears.
