So that thread about the bride not getting her flowers bothered me a ton.
I decided that i needed to ask the question of what small businesses do in case of an emergency.
The girl i want to use has her own business and also works for another company.
Here's her response:
Hey Amy,
Good question. Being a wedding planner with Oventz as well I would recommend to anyone concerned about this to look into wedding insurance. It is included in one of our wedding planning packages.
Also, being an event planner I am in contact with many florists whom I trust and know would do an excellent job if something ever happened to me (car accident, illness, etc.). I have two whom I work with on a regular basis who would do it in a second for me.
Hope this helps,

That should be everyone response. I am booked with Gina and FH & I have yet to decide if we are going to change vendors. I think it is crazy what she did but we are kind of on a tight budget so even losing a small deposit it stressful for us.

that flower thread bothered me a lot too.
i actually left a few messages for gina and never heard back from her. i'm kind of glad i didn't now after hearing that story.
i was thinking about looking into wedding insurance myself. i mean, it's better to be safe than sorry.

i totally agree.
when i booked my vendors, i asked them what would happen if something happened to them, such as a death in the family or illness, and they assured me that they would be able to provide back-up.

Re: spinoff from the no show flowers thread
what does wedding insurance do? what is it exactly.
I worried about this with my photographer also.. here is what he told me:
4. Let me tell you first: during the past 9 years and over 500 weddings shot it hasn't happened that I would need a replacement so the statistics are definately in our favor. Is an accident possible? Of course we can't predict - that's why they are accidents - because they happen without warning. In case something does happen there's several layers of protection: first, the second photographer who is ALWAYS someone perfectly capable of shooting the wedding on their own. Second: my wife on call who can react as soon as she is informed there is a situation that needs attention and coordinate with other photographers to find an immediate replacement. Third, a really extensive network of friends that are ready to step in and help any time. It is virtually impossible that all of them are booked on the same date. Two resources that I encourage you to look at as examples:
www.groupof10.com
www.digitalweddingforum.com

article i found on the knot that explains everything..
I spoke to Gina about a week ago about booking with her. She sounded so disorganized that it made me nervous to even consider booking with her, she told me to email her with a date that I am available and she would email me back and let me know if she is available for that date, I kept wondering why she didn't just schedule an appt on the spot with me, it left an uneasy feeling in my stomache. After reading what she did, I am so glad I booked with ******* instead.

I would tell her your concerns and see if she will give you back your deposit. If she is a good business women, which she hasn't proven, she will oblige!

Re: spinoff from the no show flowers thread
It just really bothered me.
I love this girl who quoted me my cps.
She seems very professional, organized, creative and talented.
