2. Do you think you should have a new job lined up?
3. How long do you wait to do a follow up, after sending out your resume and speaking with them?

Re: Spinoff: How do you 'break up' with your job?
I always try to have something lined up prior to leaving (mentally it's easier to find a job when you have a job and it also looks better to a potential employer). Follow up I always play by ear, during every conversation I have I attempt to arrange an agreed upon time to check back in...
Good Luck!

If by break up, you mean quit, I would definitely have something else lined up first! Not only for peace of mind, but so that there isn't a gap on the resume.

LOL a spinoff I am honored I meant 'break up' bc a friend and I were comparing my job to a bad boyfriend.....tried to break up many times...couldn't do it...kept sucking me back in...making promises...etc
1) Submit a resignation letter and give at least 2 weeks notice. In my case, I am really good friends with my bosses and thats why I would feel like I am 'breaking up'.
2) YES - unless your DH is loaded...then no i guess lol.
3) 3 or 4 days. But keep in mind, not all HR people will get back to you - for example the volume of resumes I recieve every day is overwhelming and I cannot get back to everyone unfortunately.

Re: Spinoff: How do you 'break up' with your job?
After yesterdays hey day I was so pissed. I did not want to come to work at all, then I get in and it was like nothing happened. I have summited my resume elsewhere closer to home and spoke with someone who said last week that by the end of the week, they would get back to me. It is a perfect job for me. I want to call back, to keep my name on their minds, but I do not want to keep pestering them to where I lose it.
It is like a glove for me not OJ and his glove but me and mine. a little big with room to grow.
As far as summiting a resigination letter did that once and they convinced m,e to stay of course with no increase in pay or anything. But, I did give them 2 weeks notice it is of course the right thing ot do but the way I get treated I do not think they deserve it. I get no lunch, which by law is required. If I need a day of I am always asked WHY? and after explaining it to them WHY? When Im sick which is not often when do you think you'll feel better will you feel better tomorrow? Just stupid crp like that.

I don't remember the whole story. Did they give you a hard time because of the weather? What town is your job?

As you know I live in Queens, my job is in Jericho. it literally takes one hour by car even though you wouldnt think it does. I posted what happened yesterday. I got in to work at 1 from redigging my car out. I got plowed in up to my windshield. every half hour they were calling me to see when I was coming in.

That is right. I do totally understand about your commute and I am not surprised it takes you an hour to Jericho.
I am in the same situation and I drive to Babylon from Queens and I had a similar problem on Saturday and I don't know if I want to work there anymore either.

That's how I feel about my job. My mental deadline to quit was Jan 30, but I couldn't even find anythignt o apply for, & now I have to go on a business trip in April, so after tht is my new goal.
It is a small office & the director takes it persoanlly when anyone leaves & I am good freinds with my supervisor, although she always tells me she won't hold it against me if & when I leave.

I hated my last job. I was working 2 jobs for a year so I had a back up job. My manager pissed me off that I told him F--- you I quit.
