ok so I had my hair and make up trial (loved the lady)..........but I realized my simple up-do is so simple I could do it myself,(all she did was put my hair in a high bun and put a hairpiece(which she gave to me) over it)...........now I have done that many times before and it came out looking FABULOUS, but I always thought that you were SUPPOSED to get your hair professionally done on the day of your wedding.........so would it be EXTREMELY tacky of me to do my own hair with the hairpiece she gave to me on my wedding day and keep her for makeup?

No, I don't think its tacky at all, it saves you money, and if your able to do your hair the same way than why not! I'm all for cutting costs.

If it looks exactly the same way she does it, why not do it yourself. I personally wouldn't pay someone to do something that I could have done myself...especially at their prices. But then again, I am on an extremely tight budget and every penny counts.

Even though you can do it yourself, are you sure you want to? I know I would be too nervous the morning of my wedding to do it. I would be afraid that I would wreck it.
If it's a hairstyle you do all the time, and you would want to do it yourself, then I think you could cancel w/o being tacky.

Well I honestly think I can do as good of a job, but wouldn't it be weird if she came to do one thing even though when I booked her I booked for both hair and makeup....do u think she would be mad?

I don't think it's tacky at all, but like kel2004 said, are you sure you want to deal with doing it yourself on your wedding day?

I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to these things, so I would probably chicken out and just let her do it. But money is money. And I think if you explain it that way, that you are trying to save money, then she should understand.

Well if it is affordable, then I say, why not let yourself be pampered that day?

If your worried than why not call her and tell her first that you only want her to do your make-up, that you decided to do your own hair.

I would say that you should call her and offer to pay for the hair piece if you decide to do it. The only part I think is tacky is not paying for the hair piece if you decide to do it yourself. Otherwise not tacky. But I have to say if money is not an issue why have the stress of doing it that day? Let someone else do it so you can sit back and relax.

Look, I know Lynda and I'm pretty certain she should be fine with it. Just pay for the hairpiece. How long does it take you to do the hairstyle? Longer than 10 minutes, I would let her do it - less than that, do it yourself.
Is Lynda doing anyone else for you that day?

If you can do it the same or better, props to you! I wish I could be so lucky. If you feel like you can do it, go for it. I think it's just that people like feeling like a princess the day of so that's why they want to get their hair done. Good Luck!

I said in an earlier post I already paid for the hair piece....................i haven't asked any of my BM yet.........but I don't want to force them. I have no idea who will say yes and who will say no to make up..........what does it matter who else she is doing that day? Is that some kind of requirement of hers or something?

No, I was just thinking that if you cancel her hair services but you have 2 or 3 BMs getting made up, it might not be such a big deal. Just a thought.
