Spinoff-Newlyweds The Biggest Loser: Excercise Routines

I am going to post this here because I know alot of girls wanted to do the biggest loser thing but doesnt seem to be much mention of it on the NW boards. Figured we could post here because these boards don't move as quickly so the threads won't get 'lost.'

I thought maybe we can do a few related support style threads; posting your excercise routine for the week or any thats working for you, recipes you like that are low carb /low fat, music you liek to workout to etc.

BUT even though the Newlyweds start it, I am going to leave it open for ANYONE to post here. if you want to buff up and have some tips to share or just need some, mosey on over.

This one if for excercise tips/routines.

I started a new walking/runnign routine. i cant run for beans because I get winded quick and I get bored and have bad knees. Im a emss.

But in a magazine (womens Fitness Rx) I read about a cardio workout that targets your lower body (thats me!) . I said ooo. So I tried it. You walk at a slower pace but a MUCH steeper incline. So instead of my usual walk of 4.5-5.0mph at a 2 grade incline, I did 3.7-4.0mph BUT at an 8 grade incline and then went up to 10 eventually. I did 25 min and sweated like a mofo but it wasnt a workout that left me physically dying.

TODAY however..I FEEL it..My calves, my hamstrings, my glutes...it ALL HURTS in that good 'WOW I worked hard!' way. I am def going to keep doing this cardio workout. I didnt get winded or dizzy like I do with running sometimes, and my knees didn't hurt! A++++

My goal is 45 minutes 3 times a week.

Here is my routine. I have upped it a bit and am trying to get to the gym 5-6 days with weights 2 days a week. Not much of a change from before, but hoping to see some more definition. On average I run 4-6 miles a day - aiming for 25-30 miles a week.

Upper body weight routine -- I saw results when I did this before the wedding in terms of definition This works out all of your upper body muscles. You can do it as a circuit training program or do each individually, weights are subject to change depending on ability level:

Shoulder Circuit
Bicep Curls
Tricep Pushbacks
Shoulder Raises with Straight Bar
Chest Press Machine
Lat Pull Down

Most gyms will show you the correct techniques when using a machine. If you are not sure, ask. I took one introductory session after I had been lifting for while. They corrected my lat pull down and shoulder circuit slightly and I really feel the muscles being used more now..

I also have a leg routine, but do not do that as frequently.
