Another thing to keep in mind is that big convention is coming up the end of august.
I was planning on taking that week off because it runs into Labor Day and I'd get an extra day, but now I think I'll work that week.
Boosh doesn't have anymore time left to take off -- other than thime that's already been put aside and will be in NYC anyway.
So, I'm nervous about an attack during the convention, but at least if I'm in NYC, I can try to get to Boosh and my other family members who are also here. If I was home, I would go out of my mind because I wouldn't be able to get to anyone.
But I do think that it will happen when we least expect it -- the convention is too obvious

Re: Spinoff of 6/11 Terror Attack
The security they are going to be having for the convention is crazy. There will be frozen zone and police checks on the trains. The mayor's office, secret service and the NYPD have been meeting for months already to prepare the city.
My concern isn't the potential for an attack but how it's going to effect transportation. That is going to be a nightmare.

My suggestion, as I am telling all of our staff is to find alternate means of transportation just in case. Such as if your coming from LI, take the train to Flatbush instead of Penn Station and using the subway from there. Look into available ferries and such.
The good news is that the events for the convention will almost always be after 6 pm so that will aleviate some of the traffic from all the delegates.

It doesn't matter... NYPD plans to check EVERY train with canine units that goes into Penn Station. There will still be a hold up.

That is not finalized as of yet and it does matter for the traffic outside (delegate buses) and the amount of people walking through Penn Station.

I hope so. My wedding is 8/29- the day before the convention adn we aren't leaving for our honeymoon until the following Friday. I am a little nervous about that, but what can I do? I planned my wedding before the Republicans planned thier convention.
Damn republicans.

My company is suggesting for people to take their vacation and/or possibly work from home a few days. Their concern is everyone's commute and not security.

Re: Spinoff of 6/11 Terror Attack
I hate this so much. Any big event and I'm totally freaked out. I still do things, but I don't enjoy going to SF or LA anymore, and when we're home, I am nervous to go into the city since its almost always around a holiday or something. I know that in other countries they always have lived in fear like this, and it really sucks. I miss the way it used to be. Sorry that this post sounds so juvenile and stuff, but I'm so tired of being afraid. I'm tired of still turning on the tv in the morning to make sure nothing happened. I just had to spit it out, so sorry that it sounds so niaive and dumb.
