Spinoff of Amityville....

Spinoff of Amityville....

Does anyone live in a house where something bad happened prior? Would that be something you ask when looking into the house? Would you buy a house where something bad had happened or would that be enough to make you decide not to stay...

My husband and I saw the most gorgeous house and we were interested in it. When we asked why the people were moving, the re told us that his the owners' two teenage daughters were killed in a car accident on a highway in the past year and the house was filled with memories of them. We decided against buying, due to karma and the untimely death of the houses former residents....

It wouldn't have stopped me unless something horrific happened in the house.

I believe that death is natural so it doesn't bother me, but murder is something different.

There was a home in my parents community in Plainedge where the husband cut off his wife's head and left it in a closet until the cops found it. That crime happened a long time ago but that house still sells for a VERY LOW price. Most realtors tried to hide it because the first 2 owners after the murder freaked and moved. A family has lived in it for a while though now.

But on the other hand our home is new construction and I like that the house only have 'our' history in it!

Also, ancient indian burial grounds freak me out also... lol

I agree with you, I don't know if I could live in a house where something horrible happened. The former owners of this house were the original owners, they had 5 kids all in tact. But the husband was a mortician, that was a little creepy for me!

I remember when the Tankliff house sold in Belle Terre...it was a waterfront home and it sold sooooooooo cheap because of the murders.

If someone was murdered or died in a house, it wouldn't faze me one bit. (Sh*t happens! ) If I could get a great piece of property, in a great location for a cheap price, I'd buy it!

Marisa, you say 'untimely' death of the home's former residents, but whose to say it wasn't their time? (Just something to think about. ) A situation like that would have never prevented me from buying the home.

If someone got murdered in the house, I dont think I would buy it. It wouldn't matter to me if someone just died in the house or the family was moving because of a death.

Re: Spinoff of Amityville....

my neighbor bought her house around the same time we bought ours so we didn't know the history of her house, but she (and I've witnessed) and her DH were spooked many times b/c strange things keep happening in her house. Foot steps, any door opening for no reason, her cat goes nuts and stares off into the corner of a room and then hisses with her hair standing up.... Well, talking to the rest of the neighbors, they told us that the woman who lived in her house had died there. She had a heart attack and no body found her for a few days. YUCK!

The real estate agent never disclosed what had happened in the house. She had just said that the woman had died and left the house to her sons who kept it for a while and decided to cash out and sell it.

Hmmmmm!

If someone died in it (other than murder or suicide) I would still buy it. Death is a part of life. I think I would buy a house someone was murdered in too (or commited suicide) but I'd totally get a priest in there to bless it first!

My dad's house is in Long Beach and someone fell off the front balcony at a party and died. He got the house for a song 14 years ago and was fine with it.

couldnt live in it it something happened IN/ON THE PROPERTY.......we were going to bid on a commack house, decided to check around the house a second time, when we did we ran into a couple of the neighbors, they were telling us about the house, current owners in a messy divorce which was obvious because the wife wrecked each room of the house........ but anyways..... then they say, the previous owners was an older couple, husband died then wife hung herself in the basement, and this was like 10 years ago...... i brushed it off.... then 3 am in the morning im in my basement alone and im like------ no way

another house my sister looked out in glenn head.... for sale b/c the couple died in a car ax together...... inside the house had weird paint designs on the ceiling, then out back they had stone slabs placed into the ground that sloped up, two slabs that formed a seat into the ground.....12 or 13 seats in a half circle, and the area above it ws the only open area out of the whole wooded backyard..... wondered about witchcraft.....
