Spinoff of dyables thread

Spinoff of dyables thread

I'm in the center of this debate right now w/ my bridesmaids - one already has dyed shoes (her boyfriend's step-sister wore the same dress/same color in a wedding), and does not own silver shoes - everyone else wants to wear silver shoes.
The dress is cranberry-colored. The bridesmaid with the dyed shoes can't really afford to buy other shoes (long story, but she is in truly bad financial shape, and I am lucky she can afford to come at all.)
Personally, I think the matching shoes will go better with the dress anyway...but can someone fill me in on what's wrong w/ dyables?

IMO, there is nothing wrong with dyeables. If the dresses are long, nobody will see them anyway, so let the others get silver and that one girl wear the dyed ones. Nobody will be looking at their shoes, TTYTT. I

think the other girls will get more use out of the silver shoes than they would with cranberry shoes.

I had my BMs get black shoes...and some complained about finding those. No matter what you choose, people will find soemthing wrong.

I think that dyables tend to be uncomfortable (as they are a cheaper shoe). I also think that the matched look is a bit dated -- maybe that where the girls are coming from.

My reaction is buy the 1 girl who can afford the silver shoes a gift card to a shoe store and let the other ones buy silver shoes if that is what they want.

I just think they are old-fashioned (80's promish), but if there is a financial problem involved and you think the matching shoes look better, than do what is best for you....I was just expressing my opinion, good luck!

I wouldn't say that dyeables are cheaper shoes. There are some dyeables that are more money than 'other' shoes. I just think it is a preference of the person wearing the shoes. the girls will at least get to wear the silver shoes again, but really how many times do you wear cranberry shoes again?

I'm also doing cranberry/burgundy BM dresses. I took a vote between my girls as to what they would prefer, dyable or silver. I told them I didn't care which way they went as long as they all went together (not the same shoe, just the same color, either all silver or all dyed to match) They voted for silver. My girls are wearing tea length dresses so their feet will show.

The problem with dyable shoes is that if the shoe in any way, shape, or form gets wet it is ruined. The color also starts to run and could then potentially ruin a long dress as well.
