I have a doberman and love him. He's not agressive at all. He's a big mush. But he does bark when he hears any noises outside.

My grandmother had a wonderful Doberman. Such a sweet, family dog!

Excellent watch dog too.

our old tenant had a doberman, her name was cayenne (like the pepper) anyhoo she was a strong dog, but not neccesarily aggresive. But she was a biiiiig chewer. Long after being a puppy. But I dont know if that was just her personality or if it was a breed thing. But she was def enough to scare off anyone who was brave enough to walk on our side of the street.

I did!!

A big Red.
Such a sweety. No concept that he was supposed to be mean. He used to chase cats and then when he got close he got scared and whined. Big dope. He'd always try to hug me when I got home from school, but he was so large his paws ended up on my shoulders. BIG doggie!! God I loved him. Such an great companion. He'd crawl up on the floor next to my feet whereever I went in the house.

We gave him up because a neighbor lost her doberman to a car wreck. She was heart broken. Dobie (that was his name) was such a sweetie, she trusted him and would ooh and ahh over him then cry. Dobie would get upset and lick her hand when she cried. So I finally decided she needed him more than I.

Also had a younger female red dobie too. Natasha we called her. Full of spunk but Dobie scared the hell out of her (being so big) that she never got on that she was a big dog. Always acted like a small dog. It didnt help we had a Maltese at the time so Natasha grew up thinking she was a lap dog. Cute at first.. kinda uncomfy later. heh

We had a doberman when we were little. I can honestly say she was one of the best dogs that we ever owned. My brother used to try to ride her and was really rough with her and she never snapped and never bit anyone. The only person she ever 'attacked' was someone that broke into our house! She was amazing and I still miss her!

Dobermans are very loyal dogs. They are good watchdogs, and get a bad rap for being aggressive. I think they are beautifl and very smart dogs.
Best of luck with your decision

I used to babysit for two kids that had a doberman, and I have to say he was one of the sweetest, mild mannered dogs I've ever encountered.

I had two growing up and loved them. I just caution you on really doing your homework. Dobermans have a lot of health issues. It can end up being quite costly.

My friend has one and he is a royal pain in the butt, but she loves him. He's not at all agressive, but he doesn't know his own weight... Everytime I call her, she's yelling... Phoenix... Phoenix... never a dull moment. They're like big kids.
