Spinoff on sports thread-Where are the Equestrians?
I noticed on the sports thread that there are a few equestrians amongst us. Where do you all ride? Where have you ridden in the past? How long have you been riding?
I'll start. I started riding at Knoll Farm in Brentwood in 1986 and rode and worked there until 1998 when I followed my trainer to Country Farms in Medford. When my trainer went MIA, I left Country Farms and went to Stanhope Stables in S. Huntington and I am there now and riding with Terri Stryker.

There's a sport thread here???Where the heck is it? I started by taking lessons with the brownies (many many moons ago) then rode at Knoll for a short time ,then Rode and showed with private trainers ,then to Smoke run ( still go up their every once in a while with my horse for a lesson with George.) And rode and showed out of state with Another big wig trainer. Right now I'm teaching and taking kids to shows ,we lease our own barn. I'm out of the show season for the summer due to pregnancy .But my wonderful friend offered to show my horse for me just to keep him tuned up.( she's always trying to kidnapp him...lol) So besides just flating my horss I'm sidelined for the season .

I'm not a rider myself, but my sister is and I was always forced to go to the barn or to shows - either freezing or sweating my butt off!!

I rode at Thomas' in Melville for about 9 years. Went to camp there all those years too, and had the best time. Before then I rode somewhere in Brookville but I don't remember the stable name. I haven't been able to ride in a while with my work schedule so I'm a little upset about that, but I hope to get back in the saddle again soon (hee hee)

Hi all! I ride also, but not as much now since the wedding monster has taken over my life!
I lease a horse now on Connetquot park, actually at the same barn where Icey is! (Hi Andrea!!) I ws taking dressage lessons for about a year and a half, and now I'm looking for a trainer to start up with again when this wedding is over!
Jennifer where on the park are your aunts horses? We should get together for a ride sometime!

I used to take lessons at the WORST place - something like the 'white trash a go go Jamaica Bay stables' and every time a plane flew over head (which was like all the time) my horse would lie down. Just lie down. And I would spend forever coaxing him to get up again.

My Aunt boards her horses at a friend of hers barn. But she goes to the park often. She rides western..i am used to English..so it is always interesting riding with her. She does those barrel shows and contests, so her horses are NUTS...LOL. It keeps things interesting in the park because out of nowhere they gallop. It is fun though...Yes that would be nice if we all could ride...it has been a while for me...I miss it

OMG! That is too funny!
Jennifer I ride english too. I'm not a 'hell bent for leather' park rider. When we go out, it's usually more talking, solving the problems of the world than galloping around! But if you are in the mood for a quiet ride, let me know! Maybe we can meet up !
