Spinoff to all-inclusive thread: are tips included?
I was under the impression that tips were included (or at least that you paid one set amount like on a cruise) but another poster commented to bring lots of singles for tips.
I'm going to Sandals -- do we need to bring singles for tips? I thought the whole point of all-inclusive is to not have to worry about money and just relax?

I'm pretty sure that at Sandals, they're not allowed to accept tips. At least i hope so!

Tips aren't included for most AI resorts that I've researched. If your resort allows tipping you will have to bring along cash for that

i just googled it and it says that tipping is not allowed at Sandals and the employees can actually get fired for accepting them. We're in the clear!

Jen - they aren't included. It's not like a cruise.
I'm bringing a bunch of cashola to tip.
ETA: I'm not going to Sandals though...

yes tip is included sandlas does not allow you to tip the staff
i was told by someone who goes to sandals resorts alot that if anyone is caught taking a tip they get in alot of trouble

I've never been to a Sandals so I can't comment on their rules but FH and I always bring lots of 1's to tip because most of the times the people work so hard and deserve a little something extra. They don't make much at their jobs so its just a little something we like to do....

ok so AIs apparently differ on this. I guess most DO NOT include tipping, but Sandals DOES include tipping and actually prohibits it?

I know that you are going to Sandals but just in case for anyone else looking into some of the others...I am going to Excellence Maya/Riviera and gratuities are also included. I just went and checked their website...thank goodness I had not budgeted for tips at the AI.

We are going to Sandals too - can not wait !!! We have friends that went to Sandals and they said they were not allowed to tip - staff gets in trouble if they accept tips.
