Spinoff to all of our problems about not being able to get married in a Catholic church...

What happens when we have kids and want to get them baptized in church? If our marriage is not recognized by the church, then will they baptize our children??

Your child are 100% allowed to be baptized. There is NO issue with that, as long as YOU are also baptized. My brother and his girlfriend are not even married and their son was baptized without question.
have you been told that you cannot marry in the Church or is it that you don't want to have your ceremony in the Church?

FHs sister didn't marry in a church and her children were baptized. Your marriage can be 'blessed' by a priest and then your children can be baptized.

I have the same problem I feel your pain!! FH is divorced and the annulment will not come threw in time. To be honest I am a little turned off from the Catholic Church. We are getting married in a Lutheran Church and I couldn't be happier! Anyway, yes your children can be baptized in a Catholic Church. They will never turn your children away. Some day when we do have children I may consider the Lutheran Church again. Good Luck! I know this stinks!

Yes....even if people are not married at all the kids can be baptized. But double check with the Diocese and your church but I am quite sure it's OK.

How ODD.

Baptizing a child is the exact reason for my brother having to get annulled to begin with.

A) He 1st marriage was not in a catholic church
B) He wasn't catholic

His second wife however is catholic, they were married by a protestant (clergy-I call everyone a priest) and when a year late they had their baby, the church (St. Patricks) required an annullment.

I'd ask your church if you're concerned.

Yes, you can baptize any children you have together in a Catholic Church even if you were not married in the church by a priest. I believe the only thing you may not do is receive communion. My priest told me that my FI and I may not receive communion until our previous marriages are annuled and we are married by a priest in a Catholic Church.

I think there is a website that explains all of this???
