People that live in apartments or complexes that have their own laundry rooms will know what i am talking about.
Ever have to deal with the tenant that does her laundry... and then leaves the finished laundry in there and waits years to pick it up... holding up other people that want to use the machines?
Ever take out their laundry yourself and throw it on the laundry room table?
I have.
And so has my FW.
In fact... this one woman that lives directly across the hall from me does it all the f'in time. One of these days she is going to hear it from me personally.
But for now maybe after finding her laundry on the table time and time again... she will take the hint.

i would throw her clothes on the floor everytime she does it. Then she will have to rewash everything, and maybe she'll finally learn her lesson.

I hear ya on that, Rich
If somone is not responsible enough to come and take their crap out of the machine and/or dryer once its done, I have NO PROBLEM dumping it all out on the table if i need to use those machines/dryers
I'll give them a few mintues 'grace period' but there is no way I am going to hold up doing my laundry on account of some lazy azzes .. we dont have enough machines/dryers to deal with that nonsense

Yeah and the worst thing about it... the woman i am talking about...
... i don't even think she has a damm job. Sits home on her *** all day. And 9 times out of 10... its always her crap sitting in there.
Go figure. At least do your laundry and wait years to pick it up during the week... during the day... when nobody is around.
But nah... she insists on doing it on the weekends when everyone else needs to get down there.
Its a good thing I rarely do my own laundry. I normally have my laundry picked up by the local laundermat... and delivered to me all nice and clean. I can't be bothered with that crap.
But my FW does her own laundry and she bitches to me all the time about her.

The problem with this scenario is... if someone did this to me... the person who has clothes in the machine that originally housed my stuff...
... would find all THEIR crap on the floor when I got down there (and all wet and soapy as I would pull it in the middle of a cycle).
At least the table aint too bad.

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
Rich we obviously have the same types of neighbors
99.9% of the time in our building, its the the old ladies who don't work and/or the stay at home moms (disclaimer: no offense to SAHMs!!) that are the big culprits. Not only are they doing their laundry on Fri. night or the weekends (THE only time I and the other fulltime workers have time to do laundry since I dont get home until 7:30 during the week) , they let their shiat sit in the washers forEVER before remembering they need to take it outta there and put it in the dryers
I gotta say, though, I love the arrangement you have with Vanessa -- she does her stuff and you deal with yours (sending it out, etc) I swear that 75% of the wash in our house is Anthony's crap - I WISH he would deal with his own

This is why I have mine sent out. There is no way I can even think about wasting whats left of my week after working 60+ hours.... on doing laundry.

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
This used to be a big problem when I was in college- we had a big laundry room and there were alway people who would leave their stuff for a long time. It was such a PITA. I used to put their stuff on top of the machine.

So how long is appropriate to wait to throw stuff on the floor....one minute...5 minutes...10 seconds

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
When I used to do the laundry downstairs in my co-op, it would piss me off when they would leave their stuff in the dryer for hours. Finally I just dumped it on the table or put it back in the cart. Now I do it at my mother's house.
I always timed the dryer so I can go back down and take everything out...on time. When I was going back down to pick my laundry up, there was this lady with her stinky hands in my clean laundry. I don't even think the dryer had a chance to stop spinning and she was already in my $hit!!! I gave her a piece of my mind....

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
Not only have I done that with laundray from the dryer, but I've taken wet laundry out of the washers, too. Screw that. I'm so dilligent freaking polite when it comes to that crap that I expect other people to be just as curteous and take care of it promptly. I wait 20 minutes, and after that, it's a free for all. Stupid people!

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
There was actually a big fight in our laundry room becasue of this once! Someone took the people's laundry out of the washer after like 5 minutes and put it all on the table - the people were waiting there to see who did it to them and once they got there....we heard a HUGE screaming match....it was great!
We've found the laundry room isn't crowded on Thursday - so that's when we do our's

The woman in question I mentioned.... i was able to do TWO separate loads in the other machine... while hers was still sitting in there.
Thats over an HOUR. Think thats fair enough?
Now I don't wait long. 20 minutes or one load's time tops.

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
when i'm at the laundromat, i let the workers do it. if the owner of the clothes want to yell, they can't yell at me for doing it

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
There's this one woman in our building who hangs her clothes on the machine's doors to dry her clothes as well as on hangers above the hinge of the fire escape door. Thus, hogging all the machines which makes other shareholders believe the machines are in use when they are not.

Re: Spinoff to apartment laundry rooms
My first apartment building had a washer/dryer on each floor. My apartment was diagonally across, so I just zipped in and out and was able to hear when the machines were finished. I loved having a weekday off from work so I didn't have to compete for the machines since most everyone else was at work.
The problem start when you wash your stuff on different floors, cause the machines on your floor are being used. One Saturday was spent riding on the elevator trying to find my stuff!!!!
