Re: spinoff to bedding post
we registered for bedding at Macy's.
we picked a room in a bag set, which is by Canyon Crest. my brother & SIL purchased the same set we registered for & absolutely love it.
our other set is by Ralph Lauren. its rather pricey but we just loved it.
we picked sets that we saw set up in Macy's & we where able to feel the texture on. it was really hard because since FH was born his grandmother has always made his comforters so everything is usually 'too itchy' for his liking.

We registered for sheets, pillows, and a plain white down comforter at BBB. We registered for another comforter at Crate & Barrel.

I'm a little obsessive with Restoration Hardware so mine are from there!

Macys - the best brand I ever bought was Charter Club, its so nice and soft. Also, I usually go by thread count, the higher the better.

Re: spinoff to bedding post
We originally didn't register for a comforter set because we just got a new one last almost two years ago when we bought our house. But now I'm debating putting one on.
As for our sheets and a down comforter, I registered for those at BBB.

We registered for a comforter (that someone recently bought!) at Macys, but we registered for a duvet cover at BBB--just didn't love anything at Macys
