Spinoff to 'Does anyone hate their engagement ring?'

Spinoff to 'Does anyone hate their engagement ring?'

I am so glad someone posted about this... I told FH that I wanted an antique pave setting. He spent an entire day in the city designing it, changing the prongs, and having it sized. When he gave it to me I loved it and it was perfect.

After wearing it the first week, I noticed the diamonds in the pave turned really cloudy on 1 side of the ring. I brought it to my jeweler on Long Island to have it cleaned. My jeweler said the ring was made incorrectly, to return it to where we got it.

We did return it, and I now have a platinum 3-stone setting because I was afraid to go with another Pave setting from the same NYC jeweler. FH hates my new setting (which was more $$$).
Bottom line is that I really loved my pave setting, and would like to get an entire new pave setting and matching band when it gets closer to our day from my jeweler. Am I crazy? Spoiled? I don't know... I just hate that FH looks at my new setting and says how much nicer my original Pave setting looked...

Is thee any way you can take the diamon & have your LI jeweler reset it in a new Pave setting?

This is what I would like to do... Maybe I should go price some options so I can start saving now!

It's so hard because there are so many other things we can spend the $$$ on!

NYPDS, I like your new setting. Tell his family to kiss your a$$ if they think you are spoiled.

Edited: I am NYPDS BFF/in her bridal party, so that is why I am telling his fam to kiss her a$$.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy. I think to an extent, your jeweler was probably right about your original ring. I have a full pave setting and it isn't cloudy at all. In fact, my ring sparkles more than many other rings and I love the fact that even when it needs to be cleaned, it doesn't look crappy. If I had a platinum band I think it would need to be cleaned much more often than I clean my ring now.
