mad or annoyed when people you know and love get engaged and plan their wedding for like, the next week? oy vey - it drives me nutty. chris' friend got engaged 3 weeks ago and it seems like they are getting married in like a month. not really, but may of 2006. a little over a year. i know there is nothing i can do about it, we had to save $$ and there are people that don't.
thoughts?

I kind of know what you mean. We got engaged on Thanksgiving and then a co-worker of mine got engaged on Christmas. It's like she totally stole my thunder! Even tho they were together longer, already living with each other, and 1 has nothing to do with the other! Lol, it's just silly. Now they're getting married this October and we're not for over another year. So they'll be married long before we are, it's not fair! Lol, not like any of the same people are even gonna be there or anything. I just wanted the 'stardom' all to myself for a lil while longer!

I don't know if I get annoyed...maybe envious that they can pull it off in such a short amount of time... one of my third cousins got engaged over the x-mas holidays and is getting married next month ...they booked everything within two months...I was more surprised that it could be down that fast and classy too...(everything they booked and did is beautiful and looks like you would have needed months for it to be completed....like her invites or her centerpieces...

i didn't mean mad like 'how dare you.' just mad like, why couldn't we do that. chris and i were together 3 years when we got engaged, we knew we were going to be married one day, so we could've been saying that whole time, you know.

oh man i know where u r coming from. A friend of mine got engaged about a year and a half ago (i think). they kept on putting the 'date' off, but now they have decided and its 2 wks after me. Now, he's my best friend and i may not go because i still may be away on my own honeymoon. nice huh. i'm not mad, well at first i was a lil upset, but there's nothing u can do. u can't tell someone 'no u can't get married so close to me'.

at my cousins engagement party, the announced they are getting married the MONTH BEFORE US! I was so annoyed! but happy too. I guess it really doesn't matter- we just get these little irrational annoyances b/c we feel it takes something away from us. but I think my family will be just as happy at the end of April as they will be at the end of March (at least I HOPE they will be!)

I am somewhat envious but it helps me appreciate all the more what I have. We are working hard for this wedding I am proud that we are doing it ourselves.

It's so funny you posted this today. I was just discussing something like this with my mom earlier. I am a bit envious of my mom's friend daughter. She planned her wedding in 8 mos bought a house and after getting married she had a baby. I was saying that she is so lucky. Everything seemed so easy for her. Meanwhile, Rocco and I are trying so hard to make everything work out. Especially with how much everything cost. But I try not to be jealous because I am proud of us. It may take us longer to get things but we are doing it together.

Re: Spinoff to 'don't you wish.'....do you get
I got engaged on October..the shower was the next November and one of my DH's cousins brough her new daughter in law to be to my shower (even though she wasn't invited-I never met her) and shoved her at me and said, 'oh, Jennifer just got engaged too!' If that wasn't bad enough, she left within 5 minutes of me walking in the door. I was told she had to go to work. (the shower was on the Friday after Thanksgiving)...where was she working and running off to in such a hurry? Also, she wasn't from around here, she was from Boston...where was she working? It was all too fishy to me. Totally not her fault though, DH's cousin shouldn't have done that. The girl was nice enough to give us a gift though.
Point is, when you are gearing up for your special time, it stinks to have to share it, especially when it's thrown in your face!
Ok vent over. Sorry if I highjacked..didn't mean it, but I feel better.
