what is the appropriate age to invite someone with a guest?
i have several cousins who are in my BP but theyre young. 16, 18, 20. should they be invited with a guest? should they only be invited w a guest if they are in a relationship?
should my friends be invited w a guest if they dont have a significant other?? im not sure how to go about this!!! any ideas/advice?

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
I think anyone over 18 should be invited with a guest. But that's just my opinion and most people wont agree. The way I see it...you could be 40 and single...but that doesnt mean you dont want a companion at social functions.

well i think its sort of a judgement call...i would start at the age of 20 or so...but I would only invite this family member with a guest if they have been dating a long time, otherwise if it was some new relationship then no.

I take back my original answer. 20 sounds more appropriate than 18. I would only give the 18 yr olds a date if they are in a relationship

I think maybe 18 or 20 and over. 18 or younger, you never get invited to places with a guest so you wouldn't even expect to be.

I think it truly is up to you. There is no right or wrong. I personally think everyone in a relationship or over 16 should be invited with a guest (I remember how it was to be 16 and in a relationship then). But, there are no rules. See what your budget dictates and if you're comfortable with it.

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
My sister who is also one of my MOH's will be 17 when I get married and some of her friends will already be there since their parents are friends of the family, so she won't really need a plus 1. But if she had a boyfriend by then and wanted to invite him, I'd give her the plus 1.

Hmm... My cousins will be 17 and 19. I'm not inviting them with guests unless they have a BF or GF at the time.

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
I think anyone in college or older would be acceptable. In highschool no one thinks about that stuff, plus I was always siting with my parents! Chances are if its someone younger and you are undecided, its probably a family member and that person will know most people at the wedding anyway. On the plus side, you will only have to pay half-price!

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
Since a lot of my guests are OOT guests, My FH and i have decided on if your single, you are single. No matter what age. He has a zillion college buddies who haven't hit that peak of maturity, ( I should be in a serious relationship and soon because I am almost 30). They still live in that, what girl can i bring home tonight stage. So i said why should we have to pay for them to bring some fluzy. He agree'ed. And for us the last wedding we all went to, was in Chicago and none of the guys minded. (Our friends did the same thing) It worked out cheaper for the guys because they all just booked rooms together. So it was split 4 ways instead of worrying about flights, hotel, and wedding gifts.
Not to mention i am way over my guest list as is(about 75 people over), let alone my budget

In my family it's 21. It's just the way things have always been...who knows why! I do remember how excited I was to get invited to my first wedding 'with guest'!

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
if all your cousins are going to hang out anyway, i dont think you need to invite them with guests. however, if there was only 1 cousin who didnt really know anyone and they were dating someone, i would go ahead and invite the guest.
i never really thought of this. one of FH's cousin is close to 18 and i dont know of any relationship, so so far she is sans guest. i have other long-distance cousins coming and they might get a '+1' just because of the commute, but im still not 100%.

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
Every 17+ will be invited with a guest (because two of my cousins will be 17, almost 18 and they are so close in age w/ my other cousins it wouldnt be right to not invite them w/o one). I think it all depends on your specific situation and the ages of the younger people you're inviting. If you have 10 people that 16, you'd have to add another 10 people just to invite them with a guest- thats a little insane.

Re: spinoff to 'invite with a guest'
I think it really depends on your situation and family expectations. I have TONS of 1st cousins, I am the oldest so none are married yet. My rule is that if they have a steady BF/GF at the time, they will be invited with a guest, if not, then no guest.
