Spinoff to MOH.....

Why does it seem like the majority of people pick thier sister to be MOH first....

Just curious....

I am not. I have 2 sisters and it was a personal choice to choose my best friend as my MOH. Blood is blood don't get me wrong and I love my sister's to death, but my BF is with me everyday (we work together) and knows me in and out.

I didn't choose my sister either.

I think many people feel that blood is closer, and also traditionally family takes precedence, so traditionally it would go your sisters, FHs sisters, your cousins, his cousins, and only then would come friends.

To me though it's all about who is there for you when you need them - after all, that is the whole purpose of a maid of honor. True to this, my best friend is my maid of honor, because she is who will be there for me when I need somebody other than FH to lean on throughout this process. I love my sister very much, but she's still in high school and 6 years younger than I am, which makes her wonderful but also not really able to be there for me the way a maid of honor should be, and because of the age difference we're not as close as we might otherwise be. So, it just makes more sense for Susie to be MOH and my sister to be bridesmaid. My sister still has the honor of being the only bridesmaid, as it's just her, the MOH, and my brother.

I guess Im a little old-fashioned. I have 2 best freinds - my cousin and my BF (since Ive known since the 1st grade) but I chose my sister bc I feel like no matter what - she will always be my sister, and she will always be there for me. friends come and go, but family is always there. I dont know - I didnt think twice abt choosing my sister - I was her maid of honor (and i was 14 yrs old, and Im the godmother of her 1st child) and i want to give her the same honor that she gave to me.

I chose my sis because I was her maid of honor. Just seemed like the right thing to do. Besides I don't have a close enough friend I would give that title to.

lol good question! I chose my sister because I couldnt think of anyone else id rather have than her- weve been through alot together and although we are 5 years apart were very close.

My sister is my best friend. I am much closer to her than any of my girl friends and she has been there for me always. This is why I chose her!

I chose my sister, because she has always been there for me through the good times and bad. She means the world to me. i don't know where i would be without her, she is my sister, best friend, and confidant.

I have 4 sisters, and we are all rotating to be eachother's MOH...I wanted one of my sisters to be my MOH because I know it would be a decision that I would never ever regret. I have had best friends come and go, but my true consistent best friends have been my sisters!

I couldn't choose between my sister and my best friend so I'm having both. I'm happy and they are happy. If I couldn't have both I don't know what I would have done!
