FH hasn't actually requested the days off for our wedding and HM...he told me that they can't deny him the days...now I know they can't deny him the actual day of the wedding...but Im still worried that they can deny him the HM....he couldn't request the week of the HM because by the time he got to make his picks that week was already taken by someone...and since he is in a specalized unit only one person can request a day...instead of the normal 2 person rule on a regular tour. Does anyone else know if this is true? Or are we at risk of days being denied?

To be honest with you, every command is different. Every CO is different. He really should speak to his SGT. or even the Admin LT. Not to scare you, my CO denied a guy his Honeymoon week. Granted he picked it during the Republican Convention, and the CO really didn't like him, but you never know. That's the worse!!! Just make sure his activity is really up, and he has taken to many days off before.
I was worried I wasn't going to get off for my sisters wedding, b/c I needed two days off. I kept my activity up and I hadn't taken off any days since January, and the wedding was last week.
I do wish you the best... Maybe see if the guy who took the week he needs is willing to switch with your FH.... Good Luck.... This job ***** when it comes to having a life!!!! And I have 15 more to go!!!

Yea...unfortunately the NYPD can work that way. We dont have much of a guarantee either nor can we take a long HM if we want. Very difficult!
FH is in narcotics division which so far has been a bit better w/time off and they are aware of the upcoming wedding and HM. So, we'll see.
Good luck and hopefully he can get the time off and enjoy your marriage and HM.
