Spinoff to: parent gifts

Spinoff to: parent gifts

i was planning on getting my parents gifts, but FH's parents are not contributing at all... not that they are obligated to, but i was under the assumption that the gifts were a 'thank you' for helping with the wedding, and FMIL has shown basically no interest at all in helping... she never asks how planning is going, and complains about having to look for a dress because she still wants to lose weight (which she has been saying for months now...) wow! i am starting to sound bitter! lol... i swear i am not a bridezilla! so i guess my question is, do we get his parents gifts too, or should i just get gifts for my parents, and let him decide what to do about his?

We got both sets of parents the same thing then we bought my parents something extra b/c they are paying for the wedding.

I plan on getting both sets of parents something, although I want to give my parents something more since they are paying for a big portion of the wedding. I just want to thank them for such a big help.

I have the same exact situation!! My parents are paying for the RH, and my FH and are are paying for EVERYTHING else, all of our vendors, the RD, you name it.

His parents have not and will not be making ANY contributions to the wedding. But in their defense - kinda -sorta.....they are retired.

I was so stuck as to what to do for gifts also?? I want to do something really special for my parents, and my FH agrees. But we are lost what to do for his parents. I almost just want to give them the parent photo album from the photographer and that's it. Help!! I need some suggestions too.

i think that's a great idea - i want to give my parents their gifts that the reception, but i don't want to make FH's parents feel bad... if you don't mind me asking, what are you giving them? i can't come up with any ideas, and i can't do the parent album because my mom is paying for the photographer

I don't know what I am going to get them yet. I'm definitey getting both parents albumns. And I would like to get them something else. I was thinking for my parents a gift certificate to Foxwoods or to a play or something like that. I'm really not sure. I heard some else say a trip to the vineyards out east so I was thinking of that.

I understand about not wanting to make your FH's parents feel bad. I thought that too. I don't want to make them feel unappreciated b/c they aren't giving financially. I want to get them something b/c they have been supportive in every other way. But I definitely want to give my parents something much more b/c they are paying a big part of our wedding. They definitely deserve a big thank you for that.

I have the same situation. My in-laws are not paying for anything and my parents are paying for the wedding. We are getting both sets of parents AMEX gift checks. But just a little extra for my parents than his.

I have the same situation too!!
We're giving both my mom (whos retired and single) and FIL's a parent album.
But since my mom is paying for EVERYTHING minus the RD, I wanted to get her something special too.
My FIL's refuse to pay for anything else and thats that. I don't even wanna get them a parent album at this point.
Anywhoo, I found my mom a figurine by Lenox of a mother/daughter getting dressed I found it on exclusivelyweddings.com.

FH & I are paying for our entire wedding ourselves but are still giving both sets of parents thank you gifts because if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here and then met each other. Just my thoughts.

We are paying for our own wedding but are still buying our parents gifts. It just a thank you for everything they have done for us throughout our lives.
