spinoff to question for jewish brides...

If you're getting married on a Saturday before sundown, do you refer to the day of the week as the Sabbath or seventh day.

So, for the wording of our Ketubah, would it be:

On the seventh day of the week, the twenty-third day of Sivan, in the year five thousand seven hundred and seventy, which corresponds to the fifth day of June, in the year two thousand and ten

-or-

On the Sabbath, the twenty-third day of Sivan, in the year five thousand seven hundred and seventy, which corresponds to the fifth day of June, in the year two thousand and ten

TIA :)

How are you getting married on shabbat?

This is a rabbi question. You should ask your rabbi to check over the wording, hebrew characters, etc. of your ketubah before you do the final print.

My rabbi said he would tell us everything we need to do, write, say--you definitely should check with him before doing an ketubah buying!

I am also getting married by an officiant, not a rabbi. How are you getting someone to sign the kettubah that isn't marrying you? Or are you not having a rabbi sign it, but then it's not really signed right? I'm having a HUGE problem with this. My fiance is Catholic and we're getting married by a friend of the family. We want to have a ketubah signed but I can't seem to find someone who will sign it!! FM me please if you can help me!

to answer the OP, your ketubah company will know what to write, since you are not using a rabbi or cantor. on the information form from the company, it will ask for the secular date and if it is before or after sunset. and as long as your write in the correct information, the company will figure it all out for you.

as for who signs ketubah when you are not having a rabbi or cantor officiate at your ceremony: your officiant, as long as he/she is jewish, can sign it. just make sure it says officiant (instead of rabbi or cantor) by the place for him/her to sign.

GL!
