Re: Spinoff to Registry Question...
Let me see is it the Personal Massge Chair that FH placed on the registry or the WideScreen Plasma TV he placed on it. FH was like a madman registering. But hey, you never know......

Re: Spinoff to Registry Question...
$600 vacuum. And, 1 person bought it for us!
But, that was only 1 item. I put a couple $199 items on there and I also received them. Oddly, I got all of the expensive stuff in the $200 range, but no $35 crytal glasses or silver flatware. The flatware was $137 per place setting.

Re: Spinoff to Registry Question...
there is a miele vacuum that i am going to put on- just not right now.
we had the emerilware pot and pan set for $199, which someone bought.
otherwise i guess our good flatware, which is $60 a place setting, and our china which is $49.99 on sale now but usually $79.99...
nothing too crazy.
oh also a tiffany vase $165, tiffany candlesticks $80 apiece

Re: Spinoff to Registry Question...
i personally don't think there is any etiquette. different people can afford different things - to some people 250 dollars is really expensive, and others are willing and able to pay double. Still others are maxed out at 20 dollars - but I think it depends on the individual, and that's why you should have a range of inexpensive to more expensive gifts. also, if something is really expensive, people can chip in... so I don't think it's rude or anything to register for expensive items.

OMG! FH wanted to register for that too! I told him that for a dollar he could go to the mall and do it there.
Remember, a registry is simply a wish list. No one is obligated to buy anything they dont want to. And remember, most places offer a discount to buy out your registry after your wedding so WHY NOT put whatever you want on it. Even if no one buys anything, you can get a better price after the wedding
My most expensive item (at $445)is a piece of Lladro called 'Mazel Tov':
the most expensive thing is a piece of luggage for like $360. hopefully if someone decides to buy it, they'll wait 'til it goes on sale, when it's $200 or so.

My most expensive thing is a Roomba vaccuum ($280). I also have a air purifier ($250). Everything else is under $100, and most of the items are under $40.

Re: Spinoff to Registry Question...
Our platter to go with our dishes, $199. I didn't feel right registry for expensive stuff. I know my friend did, and i felt obligated to spend over $100. Anyway, so far our vacumn ($169), our veg bowl ($179) and some of our china ($69 per place setting have been bought). Either way, I'm so gracious
**OH yea, forgot my pots/pans are $279 and haven't gotten them yet....
