Have a daycare center? I teach in a private school that is Nursery through 8th grade, and anyone who works there, their kids can go for free. When your child turns two, they will accept them full day in the nursery program (only for children of employees). And as a music teacher, I do not need to be in the building all day, so they will also set up my schedule so that I can even have a day off during the week. They're very flexible for people with children and I love that about my job. It's the one of the big reasons I am staying there for now.

when we start a family, we're going to have to rely on my father for daycare.....which might be a problem because they'r emoving to Suffolk, and we're living in Nassau....

My job doesn't, but by the time I am ready to have kids I want to have a different career where I can work 3-12 hour shifts OR a part time job instead of fulltime.

That is a great deal that you have at your job. My job doesn't have anything, but my husband teaches college and has a great schedule. He only has to be on campus three days a week, and teaches two days (granted, they are long, but still). Then he has a day where he only has office hours and meetings. So when we have kids he will be home with them two days a week.

we have a program that starts at 1 yr old and there are other PT preschool programs in churchs that have infant care....we'll see

We do. It is in our building but oh-so-expensive. I guess you pay a premuim price to have lunch with your child..etc.
We have a ton of moms & dads here that use the day care & they are all pretty happy with it though.

My job doesn't have a daycare in the building but they provide 25% to a bunch of daycares in the area. I use the one they originally started with. The money is taken out of my paycheck each week.
