when he realized I wasn't giving in to the 500 mile rule, we started talking more.
he began to tell me about his life, his family etc, and how his past girlfriends would always break up with him after meeting his family, b/c he'd had kind of a messed up childhood...dad gone, mom not so much there...he bounced around between his father and family members etc.
he said b/c of this, he wanted to find a 'wife' from Albania or Russia or some other former eastern block country (I recommended the Czech Republic, since dh raves about the chicks there![]()

anyway, I realized I could relate a lot to this kid (and so did he, causing him to further lament my marriage situation) and I felt terribly for him. Here he was...great looking, sweet, charming, funny, a bit naughty, with a very nice singing voice (Eros in the piazza![]()
) and he couldn't find someone to settle down with, b/c he was born into a situation he had absolutely no control over. so he feels his 'solution' is to go out of his homeland and 'import' a bride. he didn't want mail order, he wanted to meet and romance someone...just not someone from Italy.
it's such a frustrating thing...to have missed out on love and 'normalcy' as a child, and then to miss out on it again, b/c you don't fit the picture of the family life someone else has.
