my question is slighly different and i didn't want to hijack a thread....
i have no previous connection to my officiant. when i booked him, i hadn't found a church in nj... anyway...
out of courtesy, i invited him and his wife to our reception and he finally rsvp'ed (a week before the wedding... do these people not get it???? ) THEY RSVP'ED 'YES'!!!!!!!!!!!
if he does a good job, do i still have to tip him? not only am i paying for his service, i'm also feeding HIM AND HIS WIFE!!!
any comments will be greatly appreciated

Re: SPINOFF TO TIPPING OFFICIANT
Yes you still need to tip him. That is my opinion.

Re: SPINOFF TO TIPPING OFFICIANT
I am NOT tipping my officiant.
I am paying him for a service. The money goes DIRECTLY to him... not to his boss so that a piece can get divvied out to him.
I highly doubt he will give you a gift... so a tip is really not necessary.

Re: SPINOFF TO TIPPING OFFICIANT
I wouldn't tip him...you are paying for his service and paying for dinner for him and his wife. That is plenty

Re: SPINOFF TO TIPPING OFFICIANT
In y church we don't tip. You can donate to the church but usually if you are paying him and he is coming to the church then you don't have to tip him. In my church the priest does not accept tips. He puts it towards the church.
