Spinoff to Tipping question (with poll)

When you are a guest at a wedding, do you tip the waiter that is serving you? I ask this b/c at my friends wedding a few weeks ago, the MOB was upset b/c alot of the guests did not tip the waiters (they only tipped bartenders) and she thought they were very rude not to.

I'm often having a good time and don't think about it, but usually someone at the table says something and then yes, we all chip in for the waiter's tip. That is, if they're doing a good job and deserve one of course!!

I always tip the bartenders. I have never once tipped a waiter at a wedding.

I've always tipped the bar tender, never the wait staff.

nope i dont tip the servers. the host is paying a gratuity already.

I have been to many weddings and never heard of that or saw it done.

This has always been my thought but when her mom thought that was rude of people not to chip in and tip the waitstaff I started to think that I should be....thanks for making me feel better!

Sometimes. If they do waitservice to the bar, I tip them. This way I get good service on my drinks. What can I say, I'm a lush

ditto - and I know my hall is charging us a 20% service charge which I am under the impression covers the tips for the waiters.

i used to work at a catering hall as a waitress... we would get tipped when we brought people drinks during cocktail hour... but not from our own tables during dinner... it would happen once in a blue moon...
