Spinoff to Vacation Time

My dd has a week off between camp and school and at this very moment, I am not sure who will be staying with her. My dh's job might be closing for a couple of days but they won't be able to tell him until the last minute and my sister might want to go help my mom with my dad. I have PLENTY of time to take off but also like to roll over my vacation time 'in case' (especially with the kids).
Anyway....I tell my boss this morning that I am not sure what days I will need and she says 'Fine but make sure you tell me soon because other people might want to take the holiday weekend'. EXCUSE ME!! I have been there the longest, have the most senority, besides her and I have not taken a FULL week off in 3 years!! I know she does this just to annoy me but, it does-lol!! Whatever comes of it, if I DID have to take the week with little notice, I AM going to take it!!
Does anyone else treated at their job like they just started regarding time off? I have been there over 10 years and have accumulated 6 weeks of vacation time and have 3 days from this year left-ugghhh!!

I can usually take the time I have when I want it, but I do know that since it is a small office, generally they don't want more than one person taking an extended vacation at the same time. It is also an unwritten understanding that everyone is not going to take many days off around Christmas and New Years every year.

My boss has her 'own' rule that 2 people can not take off the same week together!! We are the boss and 5 girls. It is ridiculous!! We are a big company and other sections in our dept. barely even have 1 person there sometimes, especially in the summer or around holidays. The work gets done and some things just HAVE to wait.
My boss is the BIGGEST control freak you have ever met!! We can't wait until she retires!! She tells other people what time their employees come back from lunch to try and get them in trouble!! She does NOT know how to mind her own business.
Oh, got to get back to work. Am on lunch break-ugghhh!!
