Spinoff to what kind of tux: Renting or Buying?

Spinoff to what kind of tux: Renting or Buying?

FH has mentioned a few times that he would like to see how much it would be to buy his tux cause he said it's something that he would like to have.

I can't really complain either because with all the money that we're going to be spending on my attire for the day, I can't really say no if he ends up wanting to buy one.

What about you girls? Rent or buy?

I know there's a few places where you can buy a tux for less that $200, which is pretty much the same as renting. However, I know nothing about tuxes and could not tell the difference between a good and bad tux so I don't know whether FH should buy this economical tux or rent one. It looked nice to me, but ultimately, he's the one deciding.

rent and here is why
he will never be able to wear that tux again - if you have to wear a tux you are usually IN a wedding and therefore you will have to rent the tux to match the bridal party anyway ( there are so many different styles!) idk about you guys, but i doubt we will be invited to a random black tie affair any time soon. . . and if we are in the distant future he probably wont fit into it anymore! lol

yeah i understand that BUT i think that guys in general buy tuxes bc they think they will get out of renting them in the future. . .

and i know NOTHING about tuxes but i imagine a high quality tux cost a lot plus having to get it cleaned and whatever , , , , vs just about $200 or whatever to rent it

my FH has owned 2 tuxedo's

The first one was during his teen years. He has since outgrown it. He got alot of use out of it with all the family vacations he went on.

The last one he bought was less than 200 dollars, its great quality, hes actually wearing it in my profile picture. We go on alot of vacations and its required to wear a tuxedo, so it pays for him to buy one.

Depends on your social/work situation. my father purchased a tux for social gatherings at work and a year after doing so all the social events were black suit or dark suit no tux's so now he is trying to get my FH to wear it at our wedding. Sorry to tell him its WAY to big for him.

Personally unless you know you would use it again and again then just rent.

I think if FH wears a suit instead of a tux, he'll probably buy one, if its a tux, he'll rent.

btw - if he buys a tux tell him to buy it early and wear it to my wedding

yea I get the feeling that if he can find a nice one and it's only about $200 he is going to end up buying it, which is really fine by me.

He's been so good about all the wedding stuff so far working as much OT as possible so we can have all the extra's. If that's what's gonna make him happy, so be it!

i had no idea that you could get one for $200 i thought they were like ridiculously expensive and thats why you had to rent them . .. hmm learned something new!

He's renting. I know him and I know he will never wear it again. At the bridal slon that I went to the girl was telling me that every year on there anniversary she takes out her dress and wears it around the house. Just because she paid so much for it and it's a waste to just sit in a box. Thats a good idea!!!

I'm sure FH will rent his tux because I doubt he'll ever wear it again.

Sigh, FMIL is insisting he buys his tux.... I think it's a cultural thing against rented clothing....

what a waste!!!!
