Spinoff to who is invited to the RD... READERS???

ok, I kinda started to bring this up in the who is invited to the RD thread...

Who are your readers in the church?
Did you select someone from your BP? Maybe a family member that isn't in the BP? Parents??

I want my cousin- who INTRODUCED US to do one, but FH feels he'll ruin it because he's a bit of a clown... but I think if we sit him down and explain, its a church, its a wedding, blah blah blah.. he'll be on his best behavior... (but then again, I think he'll decline the position, he doesn't like reading in public- but I still want to ask and incorporate him somehow- if not for him, we wouldn't be getting married)
He wants his godbrother and godsister... I have no problem with this.. IF I can pick the 3rd person. he wants to pick all 3.
I suggested my cousins, who we're close to, but they live upstate and are a bit... artistic. my male cousin has a mohawk and those big earrings... but he'll clean himself up for my wedding.. I know that.

Fh also wants his brothers girlfriend involved... because his two SILs are in the BP... I don't mind involving her, except for the fact that FBIL has said numerous times he doesn't want a future with her... so I don't want to select someone that in 10 years I won't have contact with.. besides now, I only talk with her at family dinners/events. I talk to one of FSILs daily..

we agree we don't want anyone from the bp, besides maybe the MOH and BM.. and FH keeps suggesting my nephew (but he's in the BP).

its quite an issue...

who is doing your readings and why did you select them?

I think I am going to ask two of my aunts. I dont think either would have wanted to be a bridesmaid, but I want them to be a part of the wedding

I am not picking anyone in the BP.

I picked a really good friend. She's like one of my family, ive known her, her whole life. I would have picked her to be in my BP if I didnt have so many people already... I actually just asked her today.

I dont know who the other readers will be... Probably from FH's side

My aunt is doing one and FH's cousin (more like an aunt) is doing another. We are fairly close to both of them and that's why we asked them

what about the responsorial psalm (if you have one)
we could have been fair and picked one person each.. but there are 3 people needed and we can't agree on anyone.

We haven't asked them yet so I might be taking this down...

I'm asking my aunt who's not blood related but has always been there for me. FH has picked his uncle (married FH's mother's sister) because he was the one that 3 months into us dating said 'you better marry this one' and 'don't f* it up'.

We are not doing the responsorial psalm. We may not do the prayer of the faithful... if we do, I am either going to ask two of my friends who aren't BMs or we are going to ask some of our cousins. You can also include people at the mass by letting 2-4 people bring up gifts and have a few people hand out the programs while people enter the church.

FH picked two friends of his,and he had to due readings at both of their weddings!!!!

FBIL's long-term gf. thought about including her as BM, but decided to do this instead

FH and I also planning on asking our godparents. i am soooo looking forward to this!! after all, they were there with us for our first sacrament of baptism...so i just think it is so fitting to have them participate in this sacrament of marriage!

we might have 1 more. not sure.

not parents though.

We will prob have 3 or 4 ppl read. Originally I wanted my uncle who is also my Godfather to read but he passed away last July ( ). I am close w/my SIL's husband (my brother passed away a few years ago, she remarried and we are all very close) and would like to do something special for him so, he will most likely read. The other 2 or 3 will be up to FH.

my friend is doing 1 because she wanted to do something in the wedding.

my sister (MOH) will probably do 1.

since i don't know how many readers we actually need i am not worrying about it at the moment.

we're having each of our uncles read something...we're not having a religious ceremony, so they will probably just pick something that they find meaningful...
