Re: Spinoff: What parks are good for thrill rides?
I think Cedar Point in Ohio is one of the best parks I've ever been too... best coasters anywhere!
The only drawback is that outside of the park there is NOTHING to do in Sandusky Ohio And its a hike, so it depends on how long you'd want to be driving really
I cannot think of any parks other parks closeby with truly great thrill rides that are any closer.. Great Advenutre is fun too, though not updated enough (though they are opening a new coaster similar to one we went on at Cedar Point this year! )
ETA: maybe Busch Gardens in Virginia? That was a great park too

I went to great adventure 2 years ago when they openned the superman ride, and it was the most miserable experience. We waited online for 2 hours for the 'q-bot' thing..it's like fastpass, but you have to PAY for it. It was SO expensive, and then it didn't work, 4 rides broke down while we were on line for them. It was a lot of waiting on line and we went on about 5 rides..and the whole place stank of BO, and there was littler and grafitti everywhere. i don't know if I'm spoiled by disney or if great adventure really has changed a LOT

Oh I agree, I'm not a HUGE fan of G.A. either.. when you've been to other parks, it just doens't compare. I haven't been there is at least 3 years but since its the closest park with any rides at all I usually try to get there now and again
Its hard , all the decent parks are kind of a hike to drive to .. Ohio will take you 8-10 hours most likely , but it was worth it IMO

the expense of driving to florida will probbaly be equal to if not more than the expense of flying to FL. and believe me I'd rather go to florida

I could make a joke about when my fiance and I started dating by meeting at a park near our job for lunch.....
But what about Knobles in Elysburg, PA? You could also rent a cottage on site in the woods. There's obviously Great Adventure, Hershey Park - but you already know that, right

MGM Studios in Florida. The tower of terror and the Rock and Roller Coaster were really good!

I LOVE Bush Gardens in Virginia! It is so much fun and has such a great atmosphere... kinda similar to Epcot with the different countries. They also have WaterCountry USA there, which is also a blast. There is alot to do in the area- Colonial Williamsburg, Roanoke... A great driving distance trip.
