I know I am debating this too since I seem to have to keep doing his job and deliver the mail to the old owners daughter!
The garbage men I don't mind though they were great when we moved in.

My FW is a former letter carrier. I'll check with her... but $20 is a standard tip. You can leave more if you want.
As far as having three different letter carriers... they are supposed to split all the tips with everyone that does the route.
So if you give it all to one guy... he is supposed to split it.
