splitting the wedding plan work!

There is no reason for the wedding planning to fall on the shoulders of a single person. Planning your wedding often is the first opportunity you and your fiancé get to work on a major project together. Sharing the responsibilities during the planning phases will set the standard for partnership in your marriage, and reduce the stress on any one individual.

Start with these tips when you sit down with your partner to discuss your wedding:

Make time to discuss splitting things up. Look at your schedules and make a time to sit down together to discuss what you'd like to do. If you have the time dedicated to this task, you won't feel like it's intruding on other things you have to do.
Do your homework. Go to your local bookstore together and look through wedding magazines for ideas. You also can pick the brains of your newlywed friends. They've done the legwork, so they can tell you where to get the best deals, what vendors they liked and which locations to avoid.
Make a list. Start compiling a list of wedding elements that require research. Your list should rank wedding elements by how important they are to each of you. Here's a short list to consider:
Ceremony and reception locations
Guest lists
Menu planning
Vows
Ring shopping
Gifts for the wedding party
Music selections
Honeymoon destinations
Getting the marriage license
Registering for gifts
Split responsibilities by interest. Deal with the items in which you're the most interested. If you love to travel, pick the honeymoon destination. If he's totally into food, assign him to find the rehearsal dinner location.
Make a plan. Look at your schedules and make a time to sit down together and map out when decisions need to be made and who's responsible for making them.
Make your wedding a team effort and you'll find it more enjoyable. Plus, you'll see touches of both personalities in the results.

I know that was not supposed to be a funny post. But HA! that is not how it works for most of us. At least that I know of and certainly not for me.
