So, J.D. Huh. As noted last week, the singer who most resembles the dearly departed Michael Hutchence -- in looks, moves, voice, and perhaps even attitude. I think the band went with him due to the familiar yet perhaps unrecognized strains of Hutchenceness. Hutchenceosity, if you will.
J.D. did get better as the show went on, but I really thought Marty had the competition in the bag. AND I thought that Marty's final performance with the band was better, too. Marty could become the Clay Aiken figure here... the guy who does better even though he came in second. As long as he doesn't start crooning Aikenesque power ballads, I'm OK with that.
Anyhoo, J.D.'s fine, and I found his reaction to his win kinda sorta touching. OK, maybe I felt a wee bit misty-eyed.
Now that the show is over, I remember why I was boycotting it: I didn't actually want to see INXS with a new singer. That'll teach me for getting sucked into the Reality Show Vortex!
