I wanted to get a spray tan for my wedding (never had one before) someone told me it's not a good idea because if you sweat it will come off on to your gown? Any advice or experience with spray tans?

Re: Spray tan - marks up dress
i get spray tans all the time - IF it even comes off, it will be on the inside of the dress where nobody can see it - if they know its your wedding they should go light with the spray and it should be done like 3 days before the wedding

Re: Spray tan - marks up dress
I've had them done twice - once at a tanning salon (Mystic tan) and then once professionally airbrushed at a pricey spa, both times my feet looked HORRIBLE even though they put the protective cream and some areas weren't even because no matter how much you let yourself dry your clothes are going to rub on your skin. You can't shower that day and you will feel so gross and smelly and your sheets will get stained. I had to give in and take a shower because it was unbearable. Half my tan washed off but that was probably a good thing because the color looked more believable.
You're better off investing in a good self tanner from sephora - you have better control of where it goes and you can have your fiance help you put in on your back and just wash your hands immediately. Glo Fusion is a good brand and there is this french brand that i've used (can't remember name - it's in a red bottle with gold lettering).
Definitely experiment with whatever you decide to do WAY in advance of the wedding!

thanks for the input -- yes I will try in advance just to be prepared. I had my first fitting and I am convinced a little color would look good!

I love the spray tan..however it does stain if you rub up against something. Even if you get it done 3-4 days before-it might have some uneven marks on urself...be careful. I'm not going to get that done for the my wedding...I would love to but I'm not taking that chance.

I go to Brazil bronze on Austin street in queens and I have not had a problem whatsoever. It has never come off on my clothes. The guy who sprays me is a perfectionist, and I have yet to streak or have my feet look weird ect. it is not the same a real tan, but no one believes me when I tell them it is a spray
mystic s u c k s IMO since it is a machine spraying you, as opposed to being airbrushed by a person who can see where the spray is going to make sure it is even
the day you get it done you should wear dark baggy clothes and it hasn't come off on my sheets, but I keep my bedroom cool and I also wear a tee shirt and pj bottoms to bed

same here - i never had a problem - at the salon i wipe my nails and palms with lotion to take off any excess and so that my mani/pedi/cuticles don't get stained dark- then when i get home about an hour later i just rinse my hands and feet lightly (its my own little thing i started doing ) i always go at night, i wear baggy clothes, go home to bed - then shower in the morning...ive never had any color come off on my sheets - after about 5 days it starts to come off and gets blotchy and weird - then i just scrub my skin with a washcloth to even it out or take it off.....if you go to someone experienced you shouldnt have any problems at all - it does smell though!

I got an airbrush tan at Brazil bronze in Great neck on Wednesday night. I was a bridesmaid on Friday and we wore light blue dresses and nothing came off on my dress, and believe me, we were sweating a LOT.
