St. Lucia anyone?

St. Lucia anyone?

FH and I are going to St Lucia for our honeymoon. Only issue is that the air fare costs a small fortune. I can go to Europe for these prices! Did anyone else have this issue? I am contempating waiting longer to book, but I am scared that the prices might go UP more! Anyone having/had this issue?

Hey, we are thinking about doing St. Lucia too. We are hoping to book this week... When we looked online for airfare, it was a lot more expensive and most of the flights took 8+ hours (which is nuts). We went to a travel agent and they gave us a much better price. There are two airports there. They suggest that you fly to Puerto Rico and then take a small plane into the smaller airport in St. Lucia. It's much cheaper and a lot less time. HTH's!!!

The airfare for the two of us round trip was $1800. We are leaving on New Year's Eve so I don't know if that makes it better or worse. Let me know if you need any info!

Thanks girls. It seems that it is just the price to pay. Our rate is pretty close to that which you are spending on New Years, so I suppose that is just the cost. O well, I guess theres nothing you can do right? Thanks for the info!!

your travel agent can get you cheaper 'bulk' airfare, but you have to pay it all up front. that's what we did, and we paid 550 round trip per ticket (layover in san juan)

I never heard of that! Thanks for the info! I will definitely look into it.

DH was able to get an airfare into st. lucia for 508 each. We flew into the airport that was further away from castries with a 'stopover' in Barbadaos. Our stop over was 45 minutes long, and we didn't even have to get off the plane. In total it took about 5 hours by plane. and then less than an hour on the van to Sandals. I actually preferred it this way becaus DH doesn't like small planes (so that put puerto rico layovers out) and the island is so beautiful that it was nice to see the entire island and not just sandals.

I saw on tv that american airlines now has a direct flight to st. lucia. hope that helps.

That is a GREAT price!!! I would hit book now right this second if I found that! I booked HM about 4 mths ago and have been holding off on the airfare bc its just so high right now. I am fine with flying into either airport (FH hates small planes too), but I am willing to do whatever it takes to get this price down! I havent seen it that low since I have been searching. I just hope they wont go up any more......

we payed 522 pp with taxes and all, as others mentioned, we did the stop over in san juan. my uncle booked everything for us and he said that was the absolute best price we could get airfare wise so im guessing it probably is pricey. good luck booking tho!
