I really hope St. Lucia is okay! We went there for our honeymoon a month ago! I have some of the staff's emails so I should send them an email to see how they are holding up. I'll let you know if I hear back from them.

I hope St. Lucia is okay too...we went there for our honeymoon and have wonderful memories...it is such an awesome place....i keep remembering how one of the people on a boat ride asked if they get hurricanes often and they said that they haven't seen anything since Andrew because they aren't normally in the path of one....I hope they recover quick and good luck

:::::More info on the hurricane belt from wikipedia::::::

The only places in the Caribbean that are not in the hurricane belt are the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, Panama, and the islands off of Venezuela.

... My *** will be going to aruba for an aug honeymoon

That is an EXCELLENT point ... I think sometimes we forget that there are real people who live their, and how much more this affects their lives than ours.

Let's be realistic here ....
I, of course, along with many LIW brides, are concerned about the well being of the people who were injured, killed, etc. during the hurricane. This is a wedding chat board which is why I posted a wedding related question. I take offense that it was insinuated that I am forgetting about real world issues and making light of a terrible situation. I dedicate my time each and everyday to help people and volunteer more than most people do because it brings joy to my heart and it keeps me grounded. Please do not infer that by asking about a honeymoon location on a wedding site that I am loosing sight. If a negative event happened at your reception location I bet you would wonder how it may potentially effect your wedding plans. If a fire broke out at The Crest Hollow Country Club I'm sure, by no human fault, your wedding plans would come to mind. Of course my first thought was the people and when I heard one person lost their life I was devastated and when I lied in my bed that evening I prayed for him, his family, and the people there. When I wake up each and every morning to drive an hour and half to work, to give back to the children of the city, I feel good about myself. And when I come home, and wonder if I should rearrange my travel plans based on a natural disaster I do not feel guilty about it.

why write the lengthy response? it is a wedding message board yes, but let us not forget it is a message board, so as much as u can write u'r question i am entitled to my response/opinion. In as much as you do not know me, do not make assumptions as to what my train of thought would be should crest hollow country club catch on fire.. I can't say what i'd do, honestly i'd be prob be a little happy cause then i could get some money back... In regard to you driving an hour and a half to give bck to the children of the city, I'm not sure how that' relevant but since u brought it up, let me just say that it's nice that u drive an hour and a hal just to give back to the children of the city ( i did that also) that's nice but as long as you are getting a paycheck for it it's not charity.. it's a job-and I say that as a teacher who ALSO did that 1.5 hour drive down the belt parkway to east new york to teach..

You shouldn't feel guilty for worrying bout your travel plans, I never said u should i said.. and i see you quoted my comment so it should be clear but let me reiterate, I said I hope the people of the islands are okay.. forget the honeymoons and trips and anniveraries (didn't say any one should be ashamed or feel guilt or be embarassed) I said i'm worried about the people. I'm not worried bout the resorts.. resorts are buildings.. you can rearrange u'r travel plans so that a natural disaster doesn't affect you, people can't rearrange their lives with that same phone call. now because of that statement you felt that u needed to justify your actions. and explain your good deeds...

Yes I did feel the need to justify certain things as result of your post, since it's a message board. I'm not arguing or causing a conflict but I wanted to respond to your post. Thats all. And to clarify I volunteer in the city in the afternoons and on weekends, which I do not receive a pay check for. Bet enough of the good deeds .. since that makes you Sorry ... I do not want to breed negative energy in anyway. I respect your comments and thoughts and I would hope you will do the same for mine.
