Re: ST MAARTEN
I disagree with that comment. FH and I went and stayed at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and went off the resort and we didnt feel threatened. We rented a car and toured the whole island.

I went there, I love it. Just enough partying (so much to do). We stayed at the Divi one time and the Pelican Resort the other. One time we took boat over to St Barths and the other time we did a day in anguilla. One of the best trips ever

Re: ST MAARTEN
fh and i went on a cruise in october, and we ported on 5 islands, san juan, st maartin, st thomas, antigua and the bahamas and st maartin was hands down my favorite. jmo but i felt it was cleaner and nicer than some of the places we had seen. i think it may depend on what parts you see or stay at.

Re: ST MAARTEN
My dad has a time share at the Pelican as well..went for the first time last year and it's beautiful there. I havent heard anything about it being unsafe as long as you exercise the same judgement you would use at home...love the Buccaneer Bar!!!!

Re: ST MAARTEN
my cousin went there as one of the places for his honeymoon. out of all the places he wished he had only gone to st martin. my moh also went there a few years ago and wished the same thing from her cruise. so i'd say it's pretty safe and def nice. my uncle also goes there once a year and loves it. he has a timeshare.

Re: ST MAARTEN
We went to St. Maarten last year and absolutely love it. We want to move there as a matter of fact and live a simpler life if we cannot find jobs in our field . It was definitely the best island I have been to and can't wait to go back. We stayed at Divi and everything was so perfect. We went to so many different beaches on both sides of the island. We felt safe. They are 'the friendly island' aren't they?!

I was there a few years ago and I loved it. nice and relaxed but still plenty to do. rent a car tour around. go to the Frech side to get great bread and pastries.
I would def. go again

I was there on a cruise on the dutch side. I loved it!! And I felt safe. But I was only in a small part of the island near the cruise docks.

I have been to St. Maarten several times and I love it. We stayed at a timeshare at the Pelican and somewhere else.
It has by far one of the best trips I have even been to. FH and I are looking into buying our own timeshare there.
You will have a wonderful time there!

FH and i also stayed at the Pelican-love the Peli Deli!! We loved St Maarten never felt unsafe, we walked around quite a bit, even took a 'dollar van' with the locals who were going to work. it was fine. we really enjoyed our stay there. highly recommend. many activities and great restaurants!
