St Maarten

Any1 thinking of going here for your honeymoon? I wanna hear your thoughts.

We originally were thinking of Los Cabos, MX, but, there's another possibility that came up and FH and I love that Jetblue has flights to St. Maarten.

i love st. maarten. i've been there a handful of times, and we met a couple honeymooning there last july. i've always stayed on the dutch side, and we would drive to the french side for day trips.

If i went there i would rent a car (i don't know if that's what you guys were looking for). Also, there is some nightlife, but i wouldn't call it a parttty place. So I don't know if you and your FH were looking for somewhere with nightlife.

Also, it's not the kind of vacation where you live on a resort for a week or two.

'Also, it's not the kind of vacation where you live on a resort for a week or two. ' What do you mean by this? We wouldn't go for more than a week probably but, we are just looking for a relaxing place where they have some fun things to do (water activities, etc), nice hotel, beach and some historical places to see... I'm really familiar with it so I don't know.

if your going to go, go to the dutch side. its where the life of the island is. massive shopping and lots of activities to do. the french side is much more calm in a , there-is-nothing-to-do way and the water is a bit more rough

If you like relaxing on the beach, drinking, shopping and some water activities its the place for you. its absolutely beautiful! I have only been there as a stop on cruises. It's not like a resort where everything is in one place. You'll have to take taxis or whatever to see things or go to dinner.

IMO, St. Marteen is amazing.

Re: St Maarten

We wouldn't mind renting a car, we'd probably have to do that in Los Cabos too because the resort (Westin Regina) is not right in town...

Thanks for the suggestions ladies - I think Dutch side is where the resort would be anyway (Royal Palm)

I love St Maarten! We stayed on the Dutch side and just drove over to the French side. Everyone is so nice there and there are tons of activities.

The place that we've stayed (the Pelican and Flamingo Resort) is not an all-inclusive resort. So we have to leave to go to dinner and go out. I've never been to Sandals or an all-inclusive place yet, but i think (i'm not sure) that everything is really easily accessible so you don't need to leave the resort (if you didn't want to) and probably wouldn't need to rent a car.

Re: St Maarten

i think St.Maarten would be a good choice based on what you're looking for! I would highly recommend going on the 'Booze cruise,' the Banana boat, and take a boat snorkeling one day!

And you should definitely go to Orient Beach on the French side! it's worth the ~45 min drive!
