St. Marcs in Islip

Hi ladies....

I want to get married at St. Marcs in islip. However every time i go to look at the inside the doors are locked. I picked this bc of the outside.. how crazy I know.

But has anyone been in there before.. maybe have pictures?

Re: St. Marcs in Islip

I'm getting married at St. Mark's in June of this year. The dorrs are usually locked (we had this problem too when looking at the church). Give them a call -- Father Rick is SOOOOOO nice. They have a website where you can get their number. Try Googling it and you'll see a website. It's something like www.stmarksonline.com (not exactly that, but something along those lines). The inside is beautiful. I'll look to see if I can find the website for you.

all the contact info is on the website. I believe there are even a few recent pics of the inside on there.

You're welcome Ask away hun! I wish I had had someone getting married there when we started looking....it was so hard to get the church booked. We looked at a zillion churches before we found St. Marks.

The first question -- I'm really not sure. Episcopal churches are pretty laid back about that kind of stuff. Thinking back, I dont think Father Rick even asked us for our Baptismal Certificates or anything....so, it may not even matter.

The second question -- this one's not so fun. In total, the fee comes to $950 The way it breaks down is: $150 clergy fee, $700 church fee, $50 Organist fee, and $50 altar guild fee.

Also, 'Pre Cana' works really well. Its not really pre-cana, its just pre-marital meetings. We onyl had to meet with him once so far, for 2 hours. We meet one more time with him (one month before the wedding) for 2 hours or less just to discuss the ceremony.

WOW $950 would not have thought it was so much money. But what can you do.

Do you think the church nees decorating inside?

I am meeting with my florist and was asking about that. What are you doing?

Also, the interior of the church is amazing. The church was burnt down years ago (some kids set fire to it). They were able to salvage all of the stained glass from the windows and send them to be re-made. The stained glass were the first Tiffany windows in the country. They're beautiful! The altar has a lot of presence -- the pics on the website dont look anything like it -- it looks MUCH nicer in person.

if you meet with Father Rick, he'll take you into the church to see.

Well, the aisle is red carpet (which I HATE), so we're definately doing a white aisle runner. We're also having 2 flower arrangments on the altar. I'm doing some pew bows (I think those are necessary). But, other than that, the church has a very homey, warm feel to it. Like I said, the stained glass windows have a lot of presence, so I dont think it needs much more.
