St. Patrick's Day Wedding

I am getting married at Milleridge on St. Patrick's Day 2006. Has anyone been to an Irish themed wedding? Any ideas?

Also, any feedback on the Milleridge? Thanks

Congrats and Welcome!!

I'll bump the 'Official Milleridge Thread' for you, there are quite a few of us getting married there. Are you a Cottage or Carriage House bride?

Although I'm 100% Irish (decent), we don't really incorporate that into our weddings. I guess bagpipers or hiring Irish dancers maybe during dinner would be a good way to go.

I went to a wedding on Saturday the 19th that was completely Irish themed. With celtic design invitations and claddaughs everywhere. We wore green bridemaid dresses and her brother surprised her with a pipe and drum band. Of course, for her bach'tte party we headed to the city for St. Patty's day.

Congratulations!

I think this is a great idea and there are so many ways you could add a touch o' the Irish!!!

What about some type of centerpiece incorporating shamrocks? That would be cute!

There are actually quite a few things you can do. My fiance and the groomsmen are wearing kilts in the Irish National tartan. We wanted to get them in his Irish tartan, but they don't rent it. Also, there is plenty of music that you can incorporate into the ceremony. 'The Irish Wedding Song' is beautiful, we're going to have it played at our wedding. You can put shamrocks in your bouquet and have Irish lace in your dress and/or veil. You could use daffodils in the bridesmaids' bouquets. Oh, there are a lot of things you can do! I was originally going to get married on the 19th of this year (but we had to put if off because of finances) and I had a bunch of ideas.

(Also, it may be a good idea for you to go to Micheals, or another craft store to pick up discounted St. Patrick's Day things, you can put them away for next year.)

Here's a link on Irish Wedding Traditions: Irish Wedding Traditions

Goodness, I think this may be my longest post to date!

Thanks!

I've added you to the list of Brides (page one of the 'official thread'). If you have any questions at all, please feel free to bump that thread or FM me or any of the brides on there.

Thanks for the help, but I am not too sure what the official thread is. I am new to this whole thing.

Thanks.

Definately check out craft stores now for discounted St. Patrick's day stuff. Maybe you can find stuff for cute favors and decorations.

Re: St. Patrick's Day Wedding

I have seen claddagh invitations, napkins, and other accessories in the invite catalogs. There are also other ways which have been mentioned, such as music. Irish lace for your gown or veil. They make a handkerchief that you carry on your wedding day that comes with instructions for how to fold it into a bonnet for a baby's christening down the road. What a great theme! Have fun with it! Also, ringing of the bells is a great irish tradition so you should have bells for your guests to ring at the end of the ceremony or at the reception.
