St. Thomas the Apostle Chapel in West Hempstead?

My BM at NRC recommended an officiant for us and she said he does weddings at this chapel. Has anyone else had thier wedding here? What did you think of it?

Thanks!

My co-worker is in an interfaith marriage, and there is a priest there who is helping her a great deal with the 'baptism' of her baby. Are you referring to Msr. Jim LaSante (or however you spell it)? If so, please let me know what you have heard of him, I am very interested in using him-- I hear he is phenomenal.

Msgr. Lisante is really in high demand, I think he even has a show on cable TV. He is excellent, but I hear only doing weddings now as special favors if he knows the couple. I'm not positive on that though, so I may be wrong. I had my wedding at St. Thomas the Apostle church, which is on Westminster Rd. in West Hempstead, rather than the chapel which is on Hempstead Avenue. I loved it there, it's been my church all my life. I have never been inside the chapel though.

She recommended Jim lisante. My mom watches him on TV all the time. If he can't do it, i'm sure he'll have recommendations of someone else who can! thanks!

St. Thomas is (was) my parish, and I got married in the main church. The chapel is nice, it is smaller and simpler than the church. The chapel has not been updated as much as the main church, however, so you might want to look at it before deciding. I liked it and thought I might want to use it, since it is a lot smaller and I thought it might be nicer for a smaller wedding, but DH did not like it as much as the church. Also, I always attended everything at the church, so it might have been weird to have it there. I did not use Msgr. Lisante, I had a close friend who is a priest do the wedding.

A word of warning: St. Thomas is not so good at returning phone calls, so you have to keep on top of them. I began everything early and felt like it took forever to get in touch with everyone but the organist. FM me if you have any other questions.

We like the fact that it's simpler (I haven't seen it, but my mom has) because too much catholic imagery makes my jewish FH uncomfortable. I'm going to call today, is 2 years and 2 weeks enough time? ;-D

We got married in the church We looked at the chapel but it was too small for us and it really was not where I could see myself getting married. I agree with the never returning phone calls. For $650 you think they would call you back righ away. We brought in a Priest from my DH's parish and DH's great uncle assited.
