'staggered' receptions

'staggered' receptions

Hello everyone, I looked at a hall where I want to have the ceremony and reception and I loved the place. The only problem is that they have more than one event at a time, but the events are staggered. Has anyone else had there event staggered with another? Did it work out ok? I also saw a place where I would be the only event, I like that idea alot, but I wasn't crazy about the hall.

There are many halls that have only one wedding at a time. That was important to me too. If it's important to you, keep looking.

I personally don't like having multiple weddings going on at a reception hall either, which is why I like that my place only has one wedding at a time. I just wouldn't like passing 'another bride' on my wedding day! Some places do it really well so you never even know another wedding is taking place, but I still like that we're the only wedding. In fact, we're the only wedding at our place THAT DAY! And I am IN love with my place - The Crescent Beach Club. If you're still deciding, why not check out The Crescent Beach Club in Bayville? Right on the water... beautiful - you feel like you're on a cruise ship. There are SO many places out there... you don't have to compromise!

FM me if you want more information.

Ours will be staggered...it's fine with me...I loved the location far more than I cared about whether or not another couple would be there..if you don't really care for a hall, don't choose it just because you'll be the only wedding....if that is an important thing to you, then look elsewhere...but don't choose solely on that.....

you are going to want to like the environment, the staff and the food far more than whether or not you'll be sharing your location with someone else...if you choose a place b/c you'll be alone but don't care for the setting or something, you'll be miserable....IMO

Re: 'staggered' receptions

I went to a wedding last year at a hall that has 4 weddings (not saying the name)

Theye were about 20mins. apart. I had several complaints with them...
Other wedding parties crashed the wedding. During the CH, BM from other weddings, ran through it. We saw the other wedding across the pool...and they were sort of loud

We had left early b/c it was a Sunday night wedding...and when we went to get our car 2 other wedding had just been let out (of course 20mins apart from each other) It took forever to get out of there (45mins) We left at 10:15 didn't get in the car until 11 (crazy, we should have stayed for the entire wedding!

FM if you want to know the hall!

But, I booked CLm b/c they only have 1 other event (besides mine) going on...so, I figured it wouldn't be that bad!

westbury manor has stagered receptions. i haven't heard many complaints.

i could care less if i see another bride. that day isn't mine alone. i talk to dozens of other brides on LIW every day...i wouldn't care if i saw another bride. i know i'm not the only bride getting married on july 8!

I know I am biased, but I would say that you should take a look at North Ritz Club. They only do one wedding at a time, and the location is beautiful.

I initally booked with a hall that had staggered receptions, but I ended up switching to a place that does one wedding at a time. I switched for a couple of reasons, but the one wedding at a time was one of them.

It depends how important it is to you.

Our hall has 1 other wedding that is staggered by 1 1/2 hours--the rooms are upstairs/downstairs so there truly is no running into e/o-although the upstairs room would see the downstairs cocktail hour outside. I think it comes down to what YOU want, give it serious thought on what would/wouldn't bother you.

yes!!!
would seeing another bride walking to her CH bother you or would not having quite the landscaping for pics bother you....or is the menu/food quality something you really love at mult-wedding site and not at single wedding site....ultimately, this should get weighed in with all other reasons for and against every hall you look at. i actually ruled out a hall b/c we are getting married at our hall and in the midst of spring, the area they showed us looked pretty amiss still from winter and she just kept telling us, 'there will be flowers here and here for a july wedding...' well, why weren't they there for an april wedding??? that was more important to me than 2 (or more) weddings going on....in fact, when we looked at that place, they had 2 weddings going on...and i thought to myself, this is cool....then you have a greater chance of still getting your day b/c they have more rooms to accommodate this.

Re: 'staggered' receptions

I am one of those brides that wanted a single wedding at a time reception hall. Drove FH absolutely nuts. But, it was what I wanted, so I looked at 25 different halls until I found 'the one' for me.

If it is important to you, keep looking. Another option is to discuss this with the hall you do like and see if you can find a date where the other room is booked for a corporate party or something other than a wedding. One hall I went to (at FH's insistence) that did multiple weddings offered to do this for me if I was flexible with my wedding date.

Re: 'staggered' receptions

It is totally up to you if you want the place all by yourself. My party is too small to book a hall just for me. I found the perfect place though. My reception 'room' is private. The chapel will only be used 2 times that day. Mine at 12:30 and at 5:00pm So I am not worried about it.

But maybe those are questions that you can ask the halls

- How many events do they have for your day?
- How much time between each ceremony?
- Can you see other parties passing by when you are at your reception?
- Do you have a private entrance to the reception room?

Etc....

Re: 'staggered' receptions

At our hall (CLM) they are staggered by 2 hours... so when my ceremony starts the other party will be already up in their room and at their reception already! I got lucky because the earlier party isn't a wedding, so i'll be the only bride there that night.

I fell in love with my place and although it's not a 'one wedding at a time' place, that didn't stop me from booking. And i've heard they do a great job w/ both weddings.

Re: 'staggered' receptions

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the helpful hints. I'm still in the early stages so I'm just going to keep looking, and also talk to the place that I look to see exactly how long the stagger is. Hopefully I'll find that place of my dreams (w/o driving FH nuts!) Thanks again, I'm glad that I have the ladies of LIW for support

I did the same thing. It wasn't until I really thought about it that I realized how much nicer it is to have the place all to yourself. It's not about seeing another bride during your party, that doesn't bother me... it's about having to share space with another party, having to deal with any noise or mess they make, etc. A wedding is a very personal event to me, so I like the idea of having a little privacy, as it were.

Re: 'staggered' receptions

you could always look into a place that does two weddings in a day, but just not at the same time---ie. one wedding from 11-5 and one from 6-12. just make sure that if you're the earlier of the two parties that they don't try to rush your reception through so that their waitstaff can start clearing the hall for the next party. i went to a wedding where they purposely served dessert an hour and a half before the party was supposed to end. it was terrible because once you serve dessert, people take that as a cue to leave immediately after. so her wedding wound up being cut short by an hour all because they served dessert early. just make sure you warn the caterer NOT to serve dessert before a specified time.
