Help! How does this work? Do I take my invitation to get weighed, buy the postage, go back home and put the stamps on them and then take them back to the PO to get them hand cancelled?

Re: Stamping and Hand Cancelling Question
That is exactly it. We went, had them weighed, bought the stamps, went home and put them on them, returned to the post office, and had them hand cancelled.
My friends actually took pics of the outside of the envelope and mine did not go through the machines.

Re: Stamping and Hand Cancelling Question
yeah sometimes they don't care about hand cancelling. try to really chat up the person helping you.. and yes you just weigh one then buy stamps and take them all back.. most places will charge you more for cancelling you do them all at once.. you can avoid it often by taking them in in smaller batches

I was chatting with a woman that works at the post office asking about hand canceling and that's just what she said - there is no guarantee.

Re: Stamping and Hand Cancelling Question
FH and I took 225 Inviations to be mailed and they did them all right away for us, in front ofus. They even gaveus a stamp to help hand cancel!!!!!if you are patient, often they are too.

Re: Stamping and Hand Cancelling Question
Hand cancelling means they won't (or shouldn't) put the invitations through the machine that give them that postage mark over the stamp or the little lines at the bottom. Keeps them looking fresh!

Yup... thats exactly how I did it but the PO made us hand cancel them and put them in the PO bins.
Nice job lol I paid almost $3.00 per box and the PO did ZERO work. FH was pissed lol

We had them hand canceled at the Hicksville post office. They came out GREAT!
