So as many of you already know, the Post Office is raising rates AGAIN (to $.42) on May 12th of this year. This seems particularly annoying because the rates went up by 2 cents last year at this time, throwing all the brides at the height of wedding season into a tizzy because they couldn't get good stamps at the new rate. We will surely go thru the same awkward phase again where our only choice for postage will be the Liberty Bell and no doubt a commemorative set of Chewbacca portrait stamps or some such unattractive nonsense. To boot, it doesn't appear as though Zazzle is offering a $.42 option just yet... Arg! So where does this leave us? Had I the choice, I think I would go with The Bell. It's not horrible, it's nothing. It's neutral. It's better than Chewy.
What is everyone doing to get around this?

Re: Stamps
Most invitations will cost more than the regular price stamp and that makes selections even worse! I know the bell might not be first choice, but I say buy the forever stamps now and use those for your RSVPs.

Re: Stamps
my friend used the bell for her wedding last year.
Aboslutely no one other than the bride notices the stamp.
Just use the bell or whatever they have and don't worry about it.
I would feel the same way as you, I completely understand, but as a wedding guest who received invitations with a bell and without a bell last year, I never would have noticed if my friend (Bride) hadn't been freaking over it.
There really isn't anything you can do, last year, they didn't have the love or custom stamps until towards the end of the summer. Just tell your self no one will notice and it is just a stamp afterall. It's out of your control!

I was going to say the same thing. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE will notice your stamps!
I can promise you this because we took the time to send with our STD's....the superhero stamps & NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON noticed!

Re: Stamps
If my FH new about the Star Wars stamps, he would make me use them. Honestly, I just don't really care what the stamps look like. No one pays any attention to them in the first place. Whatever works is fine with me.

your rsvps should be in by then so i wouldnt even worry...i am sure your rsvp date is before may 12 so youre fine and as far as wedding stamps they cost more than .42 cents and are different than regular stamps. Last year the stamp price changes didnt effect wedding stamps that are .58 typically

Re: Stamps
Not having many options (yes I am a bit anal about stamps even though nobody notices it!) I would go with the zazzle stamps- I think I am doing those for my Thank You cards.

Re: Stamps
I used personalized zazzle stamps for my save-the-dates (a really cute pic of me and FH) and I got a lot of compliments on them. I thought I'd have to point them out but people noticed on their own. So people do notice stamps but I think that no one will care if we have to place a liberty bell stamp or whatever on the invites. I don't think anyone is expecting a certain kind of stamp so whatever you end up with will be fine.

NC82 - You should be okay since your wedding is this May.
My invites weighed in at 1.5oz, so I had to use the $0.58 cent stamp with is a lavendar love heart stamp. my RSVPs are due to return by the end of next month, so I should be fine everything. I didn't really like the postcard stamps they had but a stamp is a stamp. I did mention that it wasn't all too pretty and the clerk at the post office told me I can go online and make my own, but it'll cost more, which I wasn't going to do.

Re: Stamps
I posted about stamps yesterday... they will affect us. We were going to mail our invites the end of May although we're considering mailing them out on May 12. We're going to have to stamp our RSVP envelopes with 42c stamps though. We will either use those stamps that don't have a set value, or we will use pretty 41c stamps with a 1c stamp added.
As for our envelopes, I don't know what we are going to do. Our invites are not n yet and I have no idea how much they will cost. I'm expecting them to be just over the 41c since they are not pocketfold -- 2 layers of linen paper, a lightweight ribbon, an rsvp card/envelope, a direction card. I would LOVE for them to be 41c (unlikely?) or ~ 80c (unlikely) because i absolutely detest those horrendously ugly skeletal heart wedding stamps. my mom used them on our e-party invites and i think they are awful. I hate hearts and those arent even cute ones.
I found beautiful 41c stamps that i love and that match our theme/colors but of course that has to be too good to be true.
Worst case, if it costs 58c to ship I will probably use the 41c stamps i love with a weird 17c rams head stamp to avoid using the wedding stamps.
