HI Is the deed of the house the same as the title? We closed in June, I have our title but not the deed. Where would I get the deed? Can you mail in the title for the STAR program. I tried to call but they are closed for the holiday. TIA

It took almost two years to get the deed from the County Clerks office. They are so backed up. I didn't need the deed to apply for Star.

you should get a copy of the deed that is written out at your closing. It doesn't look like much and I had a hard time identifying it the first time. You will get the fully recorded deed in about 2 years. The STAR application will state what you need to send them. I think I had to send a copy of the deed we got at closing for the application.

I just looked at mine b/c the documents were on my desk. It should be on legal size paper, a photocopy, and will say in small type (Bargin and Sale Deed with Covenant agaist Grantor's Acts-Individual or Corporation). The seller will have signed the bottom. It may be 2 pages. If you don't have a copy of the unrecorded deed I'd call your lawyer.

I just sent in the page that said what it says above. I didnt know you had to send in all the pages that were stapled together. I think the page I sent in was the third page in the pages that were stapled together...and on the bottom it said the sellers name and My wifes and my name and then info about the house.
What else did you have to include with that? Scott

My attorney told me you have to send in the copy of the deed paperwork you get at closing.... along with the STAR form.
